9 Overhead, a million diamonds sparkled against a velvety coal-black sky. Gwen stretched out on a plush recliner, and gazed upwards with a restless sigh. Winston had been thrilled by her impromptu video, and the expressions on his mobile face had mirrored her own as they’d watched it together, a thousand miles apart. Then they’d shared a light dinner—chicken broth and a wafer-thin ham sandwich for him; a microwaved beef stroganoff dinner for her.
