CHAPTER 1

LILLIAN POV

“Welcome to Luxembourg…”

I swallowed nervously as I entered the airport to fetch my bags and gasp with awe at the huge changes done at the place for it wasn’t like this when I left, ten years ago.

I picked my bags and handed my passport over to an official to be checked and was marveled at the snappiness of the official and the system here and compared everything my eyes laid upon with the memory I had of it ten years ago.

“Lily?”

I turned back immediately and saw him….saw my best friend since high school, Joshua, standing beside an official with both his hands deep inside his pocket, looking all tanned and muscular…so different from that chubby scrawny kid in high school and for the first time since I left the managers office back at my clinic, I smiled widely…from my heart, for I have missed this punk.

“Josh!” I chanted happily as I flew into his arms and he swirled me around severally like I have the weight of a rag doll.

“Oh Lily… I must be dreaming” he gushed as he brought his left hand forward to be pinched, which I did playfully and beamed with glee as he rambles happily, unable to contain his joy, “when you informed me two days ago of your visit, initially thought you want to play a fast one on me….I didn’t know you were serious….”

“Until?” I asked humorously.

“Until you called me two hours ago that you want to board your plane back to Luxembourg…then I knew…my girl is coming back” he gushed breathlessly and held my hands as he stared at me with pain in his eyes and I stood there shocked at his sudden change and inhaled nervously, knowing what’s to come—

And I wasn’t disappointed.

“For ten years big head” he croaked weakly, “it’s been ten f*****g years!”

“I know Bud” I replied as I struggled to hold down the tears threatening to spill from my eyes, “and I have missed you so much.”

He laughed weakly and my heart skipped as his deep voice sounded so melodious in my ears and I smiled as I remembered all the fun and bad times we shared in high school.

“We have a lot to catch up…a lot to talk about” he said happily as he moved to grab my bags and it was then I notice a pretty slim she wolf with a shiny white blonde hair staring at me with her emerald green eyes standing beside him quietly watching all that had transpired between Josh and I and I tapped him and nodded at her direction in question, wondering who she was.

But by the look on his face, immediately, I knew and I gasped, genuinely shocked as I stared at Josh’s mate.

“Josh! You big head!” I shrieked and I moved over to where she was to give her a hug, “And you didn’t say anything.”

“I’m sorry…I was so caught up in the moment, but I was going to introduce her, you just got there faster than me.” He said with his hands waving in all directions as he tried to explain himself and we laughed for it was a funny sight.

Then I turned to face her with my hand outstretched and said, “Hello I’m Lillian, but my friends call me Lilly”

She took it enthusiastically and said happily in her foreign accent, “hello Lily, my name is Lydia, I have heard a lot about you from Josh and I think you are an interesting person also like my mate and I hope we can be friends.”

“Oh please, interesting….?” I asked with my cheeks burning because personally, it’s one thing to be told you are beautiful or any other compliment by a man and another thing, this time with a stronger force, to be complimented by a woman.

“And very beautiful too” Josh interjected with a wink in my direction as we turned towards the airport exit.

“Yeah…yeah…” she chirped excitedly as she held my arms as we walked side by side out of the airport, “Josh showed me some of your high school photographs that you took with him and I must say, you look nothing alike your younger days, you look way differe—”

“Sweetheart!” Josh blurred out, with his face red with embarrassment and I must say, they look quiet good together, with him shy….as always and I smiled inwardly at the little voice that whispered ‘somethings never change.’

While Lydia on the other hand, is quiet an handful….daring, some would say bold and expressive. I turned to look at her as she chirped on;

“What? You know I ain’t lying….she is way hotter now” she replied Josh as she threw him a glance over my shoulders.

“Yes…but you shouldn’t have said it like—”

“So tell me, how did you guys meet?” I asked beaming with smile as I got into Josh’s car and sat at the back seat behind the couple and watched as they both smiled adorably and shook their heads.

“No Lily…you first” Josh said sternly, as he pulled out of the airport driveway, out into the street, “tell us how life has been for you since you left, because it hasn’t been the same around here.”

I sniffed and looked out the window as we passed a row of buildings standing side by side majestically and gasped for I now saw the reason, Luxembourg—the small pack I left ten years ago is now being called the central city and I stared mesmerized at the towers and magnificent buildings flying past the windows.

“It’s all changed yeah?” Josh winked, as caught me staring wide eyed at the city.

“Everything has changed…..” I replied breathlessly as my eyes fell on another structure that stood magnificently at the center of the pack, shining in all its glory as the pack sun shone on its mirrors giving it a majestic sight.

“Yeah, after his fathers death, Drake was appointed and I must say…he is currently one of the best Alpha, Luxembourg has seen…”

And suddenly, I wasn’t listening…
