CHAPTER 2

LILLIAN POV “Lillian? Lily?!” “Y-yes” I stammered as I jolted back into consciousness and looked around hurriedly to see us packed at the side of the road, with Josh and Lydia staring back at me anxiously and by the look of their faces, I knew I had blacked out… “Where were you baby girl?” Josh asked with concern in his voice as he laid back to feel my forehead but I instinctively pulled away and smiled. “I am fine, Bud” I snorted and focused my attention back to the window so as for them not to see the pain in my eyes…but Lydia, with a knowing look in her eyes stared at me and said softly; “Lily…please if you don’t mind I say this…whenever your name pops up anywhere among you and Josh schoolmates, it must be called alongside the ‘trio’ and what they did to you and that made you stay away for the past ten years without stepping your feet on this soil..till this day.” She paused and looked at me and for the first time, I saw uncertainty in her eyes, “I know it’s been long, but I just want to ask if you are ok…?” “Lydia please…” Josh pleaded earnestly, “All this isn’t necessary no more, it’s ten years babe and ten years is a long time…she will be over it by now, so there is no need to reopen old wounds.” “No…” I replied curtly, “I already had planned my stay here to be short and swift and I have no interest whatsoever in reconnecting with old schoolmates, Josh” I added, knowing fully well he might spread the news of my arrival among our peers and I shuddered at that thought for I intend on going over to my mums at the palace where she works as the head maid in the palace and had refused to leave when I started making money, saying she has been there all her life and had no interest in leaving, then I will go attend the summit two days later and from there, I will go board a flight out of Luxembourg once more, before ‘anyone’ sees me. “Baby girl…” he said with his voice quivering, “after all these while?” “I don’t know what you are talking about” I replied as I stared out the window, with my voice stern, “all I know is that I want to be out of here in five days, with nothing and no one being aware of my visit Josh….” “Ok. Understood” he nodded, “whatever you say Lily, I will side by you…but don’t you want to show them this new you?? They will be flustered! They will be embarrassed…..Gosh you have grown so beautiful…your skin color…your body…your hair and you even have an accent….which is very sexy.” I blushed at Josh’s words and shook my head, being very determined to stand my ground with my rules. “No Bud…please…” I pleaded, staring at him intensely through the car mirror and he returned my stare defiantly, therefore pulling me in for a stare contest, which I won and he nodded in defeat. I barely had a little time to celebrate when I heard Lydia tug at the hem of my past…still not letting go— “Why though?” She asked with her expression all scrunched up like she is trying to hold some thing in and failed woefully, because, “Why did you experience all those embarrassment from the Alpha and his friends back in the day? Did you do any thing wrong or were you just bullied…?” “Lydia!” Josh hissed angrily, but in this case, she did not back down…. “Why?” She retorted back at him, “you never tell me anything, all I know about this issue is that the Alpha really embarrassed Lillian so bad that she had to leave this pack, but you never say why.” “I will tell you why” I whimpered softly, as I search my subconscious for a locket I had buried deep down that holds everything I had remembered about that incident and my life here, ten years ago. “No Lily” Josh growled, “there is absolutely no need to reopen old wounds and Lydia—” he turned to face her and for the first time, I saw an emotion flashed in his eyes as he says, “drop it.” But she has a point and one way or the other, she will find the answers she is looking for and wanting all this to end this instant, I shrugged and said; “Josh let her be…she has every right to be inquisitive” and then I turned to Lydia and ask, “so what do you want to know?” She turned on her seat to face me squarely with her eyes shining and asked; “I got transferred here as a scholarship student, five years ago…without knowing it’s histories and ceremonies, but there’s one thing that always stood out among the gossips—Lillian Stewart and her humiliating story and it’s everywhere in Luxembourg.” I’m sorry for been so inquisitive and I can understand if you won’t want to say anything, for it was a huge ordeal no doubt for it to be loud like this.” I smiled weakly and nodded, then I asked softly, “is it still that loud?” “Oh please no” she laughed, “that was five years ago, but I know the story will still be on every one’s lips…” then she froze and looked at me gingerly and whispered, “sorry.” “Oh please…” I laughed shrilly and said, “actually I am to be blamed for everything and I deserved what is happening and what has happened to me for the past ten years, for I had been very very stupid.” “You shouldn’t say that baby girl” Josh hissed, but I shook my head, unwilling to let others take the blame for my foolishness.. “No Josh…it’s true…” “But how were you stupid?” Lydia asked cautiously. “What did you do?” “In that case” I replied with a sad smile, as I unwillingly opened the locket. “Let’s start from the beginning, shall we?”
