"Do not raise your voice at me." Maisie’s voice flared.
That was it. Something in me snapped. I looked awat from Adrian and stood up so suddenly the chair shifted behind me. This time, I didn’t raise my voice as much but it came out with fury.
"You came up to me," I said, my eyes locked on hers. "I told you to leave me alone. More than once. And you didn’t. I have been polite. I have been calm."
She stood up and opened her mouth to speak, but I cut her off. "So what exactly is wrong with you?"
"Step away from the table Maisie," his voice sounded firm and final. It was Adrian. He stepped in beside me.
He had on a hard expressionas his gaze fixed on her.
"Don’t you ever try something like this again," he added.
