Darrell walked towards the table.
"Sorry I’m late," he said, flashing a polished, practiced smile. "The call ran longer than I expected."
Harrington waved it off with a chuckle. "No harm done. Come, join us."
Then he gestured towards me and Amelia, "This is Adrian Langford and his girlfriend, Amelia Harper."
Darrell's gaze moved to me first. Then he shook my hand first, firm and confident. "Good to meet you, Adrian."
"Darrell, good to meet you too," I responded.
Then his eyes moved to Amelia. He paused for half a second longer than necessary. It was long enough for me to notice.
