She guided us further into the house. When we reached the main living area that opened onto the dining space, everyone stood up. My grandmother’s face lit up the moment she saw me. She crossed the room quickly and pulled me into a gentle hug. "I’m so glad you could make it, sweetheart," she whispered against my hair. "It means the world to me."
