I desperately want to fight the beast inside me, but the truth is—I don’t know how. One second I’m still in the tattoo chair, and the next, I’m on my feet, snarling at Killan. My gums tingle as the voice inside me roars inside my skull—loud, terrifying, and foreign. I press the heels of my hands to my temples, hoping to muffle the sound, to anchor myself. But everything around me feels wrong—warped in red-tinted fury.
I can barely make out Killan’s face as his expression shifts from soothing to something dominant—Alpha-like.
“Get a hold of yourself,” he commands, staring me down without a trace of fear. “I know you can hear me, Tess. You control the wolf. She doesn’t control you. Now, put her in her place.”
How in the gods’ names am I supposed to do that? They definitely didn’
