Lucian’s POV
I walked Elara back to her chambers in silence.
My hand rested on the small of her back the entire way, guiding her through the corridors. She didn’t speak. Neither did I. The taste of her kiss still lingered on my lips, but my mind was already spinning with everything she had just told me.
When we reached her door, I opened it for her. She stepped inside, then turned to look at me, eyes soft and uncertain.
“Goodnight, Lucian.” she whispered.
“Goodnight,” I replied, voice low. I waited until the door clicked shut before I turned away.
The second I was alone in the corridor, the anger erupted.
