Chapter 16

James

I woke up with the best feeling. We slept in the same bed. That was the best sleep I had in years. I opened my eyes with a smile but sadly I look over, she’s gone. But I still smell her scent.

I sit up and the doors of the bathroom opened.

“Oh you’re awake. Did I wake you? I’m sorry” She said

I shake my head smiling “No. I was already awake. I thought you left”

“I was going to, I need to go down to train your---I mean our pack today” she answered and hearing her saying that this is her pack made my mood bright and good

“It’s okay. I will shower and follow you downstairs” I tell her

I am trying not to stare because my buddy down there is twitching. I haven’t got laid for a month now.

“I’ll change and wait for you” She offered

My smiled widen. “Really?” sounding like a child. She chuckled

“You know you’re cute when you act like that” She said and I frowned

“Now off you go to shower” she added as she shoo’s me away to the bathroom

I close the door behind me and I smiled. I never felt this happy before

I showered fast so that she won’t wait for me too long. I got out and she was holding a book in her hand.

She looks at me emotionless and back to the book. What the hell is wrong with her, most girls drool over me. I frowned

I went to change and after I got out “Come on” I said

“Okay” she said and got up, I was near the door when she suddenly held my hand

I look at our hands and she intertwines it. I look at her and she was smiling.

It’s weird, she’s being nice and loving to me.

“What? I am trying here” She said

“Sorry, it’s just weird you suddenly act this way” I tell her

“Oh you’re not comfortable?” She asked and lets go of my hand and somehow the warmth I felt was gone

“No, it’s just weird but I like it” I tell her and take her hand again, as we walk down straight in the kitchen

My family and hers was there eating and when we came in they look at us with awe in their eyes. I help her sit and I sat down beside her.

“it’s good to finally see you together without fighting” Her mom said

“Just wait, it’s still early to say that” Casler said

They laughed at her statement. But somehow I felt it was true. I have a feeling that this won’t last long but I ignored it and enjoyed our time instead.

“Where are you going?” I asked because she was fine staying here in my office an hour ago

“Oh I want to go to the library” She said plainly

“Why? Don’t you like here with me?” I ask hurt. I know, I know, I’m paranoid but I couldn’t help it. What if she suddenly changed her mind? What do I do then?

“Your office is boring, I would rather read all the books I can find than staying here waiting for you” She said

I chuckled “I guess. Go on then, come back here after and we’d go back together”

She nodded “Okay” then she left

Casler

If he’s trying then I am willing to try it too. I don’t want to disappoint anyone just because I didn’t want too. I know no matter what I do, I have to accept him sooner or later.

I left his office thinking about how to do this and the right way. I use the excuse of going to the library to read a book. Well then I need to go there, get a book then think.

I enter the library and wow, it’s beautiful. Did I mention I love reading books about romance? Well I am obsess, I was supposed to think but hey one book wouldn’t take all my time right?

“Fine, one book and think about your situation”

“Okay tala, thanks!”

I found a good book to read, the cover was faded and the front page is teared, upon opening the book it was already at page three. It was weird but I read it anyway.

It was full of interesting stories and now I realized it is not a story book or a novel, it is about different kinds of beings. It was amazing how many beings there are, now I wonder if Lucas have met all of them for me. I smile at that thought

“Enough now, you’re thinking about Lucas again. While you’re here with Alpha James, with our Mate” Crystal

“Can I just think of him for a little while? No?”

“Come on, think about it now”

“Fine”

“Well, first off, I think that I want to try things with him since it’s going to be him marking me and the other way around too. We have to show the pack that we accepted each other because we wanted to not because of the stupid mate bond…”

“Hey it’s not stupid”

“Crystal let me finish”

“Okay”

“I am also trying not to think about Lucas. See I even call you Crystal now. I am really trying here so help me and let me sometimes make decisions on my own”

“Okay. But you should go to Mate”

“We are. I hope he is done by now, an hour passed already”

“I hope so too”

I stood up and place the book back on the shelves. I walk outside and walk staright to his office. I open the door immediately not bothering to knock

“Hey, are yo-----“ I was shock with the sight

I composed myself. “Oh you’re busy, I guess I’ll head home first” I said calmly and close the door, more like slammed the door

I am now walking fast, down the stairs, going outside

“I told you this is stupid, I can’t believe this. Fcking mate bond”

Crystal was silent. But I didn’t care; I was mad, upset, sad.

“Cas Wait!” I heard James shouting after me

I didn’t stop or turned around. I just kept walking. Then he growled, of course I stopped he is an Alpha.

I rolled my eyes and turned around. I still can see clearly the lipstick stain on his lips.

“What?” I snapped

“Cas, let me explain, it’s not what you think it is” He said

“No it’s fine. I just want to go home. Come home when you’re not busy anymore, Aunt Rose would be upset if you can’t go to dinner” with that I turned around and left

He didn’t even follow me back. I guess he is busy. I chuckled sarcastically.

“Whoa, you’re hot” Alex said

“Don’t, just Don’t” I said and try to walk past him

“Wait. What happened? Why are you mad?” he asked then sky was getting dark and you could hear thunder, so loud.

“I guess, mad and upset doesn’t mix well” I smirked

“Chill out. You’re going to hurt someone if you don’t” Alex said

“I need to be alone. Alex please” I begged him and he nodded, and watched me go upstairs to my room

I opened the door and slammed it hard. I paced around my room, walking back and forth.

“f**k, f**k, f**k. Stupid mother f*****g asshole!”

“Why you mad?” A little voice said

I look over my bed and there she was, Lily. I didn’t even notice her. The moment I saw her, heat on my body disappeared but not the thunder and darkness outside. It remained. s**t I was cursing and there’s a little kid here. For fucksake, could this day go any worse? Why does bad things keeps happening to me?

“Nothing baby, why are you here alone?” I asked her as I sit down beside her and hoping she didn’t heard all the cursing I said. It’s embarrassing knowing she wants to be like me.

“I was waiting for you” she said smiling at me

“You know I moved at your brother’s room now right?” I said

She nodded.

“Then why didn’t you wait for me there?” I asked

“I don’t know. I just felt it. And hey your here”she smiled at me again

“Oh lookie! Your “r” is clear now” I told her smiling

“Mom and dad said I should learn it by now. Like you!”

I didn’t answer her, I just hugged her tight then tears came running down my face. It also started to rain. She hugged me back and we both lay down the bed.

“I’m sorry” she said

I let her go and looked at her “Why?”

“My brother did something again. I just know it” she said

“I’m sorry, you have to see like this. How about we sleep here now and when we wake up, let’s eat some of your ice cream?” I offered

“Okay!” she said and she snuggled up to me. Not long after I drifted off to sleep.
