the world crumbled because of your smile

i got home at 8:00 pm. Still stuck at the situation that made me lose my mind, I know he's just trying to protect me from that creepy guy, but I swear I'm about to lose myself when he did that. I think even if it's scary, it's probably the happiest creepy moment that I've ever been, well, if he's not there, then probably the worst moment, haha.

"kashina!"

"kashina!"

"kashina! How many times do I need to call you, brat?!"

then I stopped my daydreaming when my mom said 'brat' I know she's mad, this is your fault, Shaun!

I came downstairs and headed to the living room

(mom) "for god's sake, I swear we need a doctor to check your hearing!"

"sorry, I'm doing something when you're calling"

(mom) "here, go to Ms. Anna"

"Who's that?"

"the one who gave us free kimchi yesterday"

oh, the girl from that eatery, it's just a 10-15 minutes walk from here.

"mom, it's late!"

(mom) "Not a problem! I didn't raise you to be scared, right! you are an independent woman! just like me! here take this cake and this pepper spray, remember the things I teach you about self-defense!"

"oh please, would you please stop comparing everything to yourself? not everything can be you."

"you little!"

I stormed off and took the bag and the pepper spray, you're probably wondering why I talked like that, well she's not my mother, she is my step-mother. My dad passed away when I'm 13 years old, and I had no choice and live with her. They never had a child, but I know for sure that my stepmom hates me a bit because of I got everything that belongs to dad, and she can't do anything because dad gave her something too, just for her and dad left her a responsibility to take care of me until I finished school, then she can take my dad's million dollars in his bank that I only know about. And my real mother? I last saw her when I was 5, I probably don't remember her face anymore. but yeah, I never intend to find her. She left us like we are nothing special.

while I'm walking, I saw some random stray cat on my way to the place, it's sleeping ... but I realized it's sighing so hard and noticed the wound on her tummy, and when I lift her up, I saw two kittens in her belly, she is pregnant! I saw a newspaper on the bench, I put it softly and put the cat in the newspaper so the kittens will be out on a nice surface.

after that, I remembered the cake, I got some leaves in my head and placed it in the cat's belly and whispered " I'll be right back."

I arrived at the house, thankfully Miss Anna is already outside taking out some trash.

"Miss Anna!"

(Miss Anna) "hey! what are you doing here? it's late now!"

"oh, my mother said to give you this!" then I showed her the plastic bag I was holding.

"she baked it up herself, Miss Anna!"

(Miss Anna) "that was so kind of her, wait for me here. I have something for you"

"no-no, it's alrigh-"

she didn't listen and entered her house, I was planning to walk away because I'm worried of the cat I saw.

(Miss Anna) "here, take this. eat it while you're walking so you won't be scared to walk by yourself."

"thank you miss! I'm off then."

when I opened the plastic I saw some gummies inside, well this is a cure indeed.

I'm close to the cat when I saw some random guy petting it, what? Is that cat alright? Did he take care of it?

"ehh! Excuse me would you mind? I'm taking care of her"

(rg) "if you're taking care of her, why did you leave her?"

and when he stood up and looked at me, I was surprised that I'm about to choke because of my gummies.

"oh, hey Shaun. what are you doing here?"

(Shaun) "Doing some errands."

"is that so? *awkward laugh*"

"wait, wait, wait! what are you giving her?"

(Shaun) " Uh, marshmallow? isn't it obvious?"

"They can't have marshmallows! It's too sticky, that the marshmallow would be stock in their throat!"

he was speechless and he's just staring at his marshmallow, I leaned over too, I'm beside him, wow. we are so close...

(Shaun) "is that so?"

"did you gave her any?"

he just simple shook his head

"good thing I interrupted, and she can't choke because she's giving birth right now."

(Shaun) "she is?"

"wait, you didn't realize that too?" he shooked his head again. I swear he's smart but he doesn't now anything that is about cats, I guess he's just interested in it because it's cute.

I was about to give her my gummies when he reached for my hand

(Shaun) "Cats can't have gummies too."

woah, so he knows things about cats. That's good.

But I can't reply since he's holding my hands for seconds

he realized it too so he cough two times and stood up.

"okay, I thought you're doing errands, then why do you have this kind of marshmallows? Do you mind me asking?"

(Shaun) "oh the place that I do errand to, she gave me marshmallow so I can eat it while walking."

"woah, same thing here. I was ordered to bought a cake for my stepmom's friend to gave her a cake, then she give me this gummies and said I can eat it while walking so I won't feel lonely."

(Shaun) "does gummies can accompany people?"

"silly, you don't know these kind of stuffs, don't you? She mean is I won't feel scared while walking alone, so the gummies will help me feel alone less."

(Shaun) "oh."

the silence were too loud for a couple of minutes.

"so, are you going home now?"

(Shaun) "yeah. I'm about to go home early but I saw this cat and-"

I guess I interrupted his talking when I'm busy looking something behind him

(Shaun) "what?"

"do you have an extra dollar?"

(Shaun) "yeah. I have one dollar... *reached for his pocket* here...*then handed the dollar*"

"wow that was fast, what if I only asked?

(Shaun) "then.."

"just kidding. I'll pay you tomorrow, wait up!"

I started running when I saw a vendor nearby selling fishcakes. I bought for one dollar. Then started running back, he was still standing there, earlier I assumed he might be gone when I came back, to my surprise he's still there.

"you're still here?"

(Shaun) "yeah, you said 'wait up' didn't you?"

oh, that's right

*awkward laugh*

I leaned over to the cat and gave her the pieces of the fishcakes so she can have a stamina while releasing her kittens.

"I'll name you, shashi."

(Shaun) "why shashi?"

"Because we both take care of her so SHAun and kaSHIna. I mixed our names. Equal Shashi!"

And he smiled so wide, I can see his two dimples, and I swear when he smiles, his eyes is gone. I feel like the world crumbled and Shaun and I was the only one there and it feels like some background music is hitting us, like a sweet moments in the movies.

(Shaun) "see you tomorrow then."

I just nodded and after he left I still stood there beside Sashi, still feeling numb because of that heart melting smile...

"sashi, you are very cute!!!"
