As the days turned into weeks, Emily's surgery to treat her leukemia was finally scheduled. Alex was a nervous wreck, but he tried to stay strong for Emily's sake.

The day of the surgery arrived, and Alex accompanied Emily to the hospital. He held her hand tightly as they walked into the operating room.

"I'll be waiting for you," Alex whispered, trying to hold back tears.
