Title: Zara’s Divine Light – The Rift of Blood and Tears
Zara’s return to her family’s home was meant to be a sanctuary, a place where she could find solace and rebuild her strength. But the betrayal by Elyas and Jasmin festered in her heart like an open wound. Her nights were filled with restless dreams, and her days with the quiet ache of memories she couldn’t erase. Yet, she knew she couldn’t ignore the issue any longer. For the sake of her unborn child, she had to confront her sister and lay boundaries, no matter how painful.
One afternoon, as Jasmin sat in the family’s living room flipping through her phone, Zara approached her. Her heart pounded in her chest, but she steeled herself. She had to do this—not out of hatred, but to protect her own peace.
“Jasmin,” Zara said softly, her voice steady but tinged with sorrow, “we need to talk.”
Jasmin looked up, her face wary. “About what?”
“You know what,” Zara replied, sitting across from her. “About Elyas. I need you to keep your distance from him.”
Jasmin’s expression hardened. “Are you serious? You think I’m the problem here?”
Zara took a deep breath, fighting to keep her emotions in check. “You are, Jasmin. Whether you meant for it to happen or not, you’ve crossed a line. You’re my sister. I trusted you, and you betrayed that trust.”
Jasmin’s eyes filled with tears, but her voice rose in anger. “You think this is all my fault? Do you have any idea what it’s like to live in your shadow, Zara? You’ve always been the perfect one, the one everyone admires. And now you’re playing the victim, acting like I ruined your life when it was already falling apart!”
Zara’s heart ached at Jasmin’s words. She hadn’t expected this—this fury, this bitterness. “Jasmin, this isn’t about competition. This is about respect, about family. How could you do this to me, knowing everything I’ve been through with Elyas?”
Jasmin stood up, tears streaming down her face. “You think I wanted this? You think I planned for Elyas to look at me the way he does? Maybe if you’d been a better wife, he wouldn’t have—”
“Stop!” Zara shouted, her voice breaking. The words cut her like a knife. “Don’t you dare blame this on me. I gave everything to Elyas—everything! And you… you were supposed to be my sister, my ally. Instead, you’ve sided with him and torn our family apart.”
Their heated argument drew the attention of their mother, who rushed into the room. “What’s going on here?” she demanded, looking between her daughters.
Zasmin broke into sobs, burying her face in her hands. “She’s blaming me for everything, Mama. She’s making me feel like a terrible person when I didn’t do anything wrong!”
Zara stared at her sister in disbelief. “You didn’t do anything wrong? Jasmin, you admitted to entertaining Elyas’s attention! How can you stand there and act like the victim?”
Their mother, torn between her daughters, turned to Zara with a frown. “Zara, you need to calm down. Jasmin is clearly upset. Maybe you’re overreacting because of everything you’ve been through.”
“Overreacting?” Zara whispered, her voice trembling. “Mama, she betrayed me. She’s been encouraging Elyas while I’ve been struggling just to keep myself together.”
But their mother sighed, shaking her head. “Zara, you’ve been so emotional lately. I know you’re pregnant, but you have to stop taking everything so personally. Jasmin is your sister. She would never hurt you intentionally.”
Zara felt the ground shift beneath her. Her mother’s words, meant to pacify, felt like a dagger to her heart. The person who should have supported her, who should have defended her, was taking Jasmin’s side.
“Mama,” Zara said, her voice breaking, “I’m not imagining this. I heard them. Elyas admitted he feels something for her, and she didn’t stop it. How can you not see what’s happening?”
Jasmin’s sobs grew louder, and she sank to the couch, shaking her head. “I never meant for this to happen. Why are you trying to make me out to be the villain?”
Their mother rushed to Jasmin’s side, wrapping an arm around her. “Zara, you need to let this go. Jasmin is hurting too. You can’t put all this blame on her when Elyas is the real issue.”
Zara felt tears stream down her face as she watched her mother comfort Jasmin, the very person who had betrayed her. The room felt suffocating, the walls closing in as the reality of her isolation set in.
“I see how it is,” Zara said quietly, her voice trembling. “You’ve chosen her, Mama. Just like Elyas did. No one cares about how I feel, about what I’ve endured.”
“That’s not true, Zara,” her mother said, but her words felt hollow.
Zara turned and walked away, retreating to her old bedroom. Once inside, she closed the door and sank to the floor, sobbing uncontrollably. Her heart felt heavy with betrayal—not just by Elyas, not just by Jasmin, but now by her own mother.
She placed her hands on her growing belly, whispering through her tears, “I’m so sorry, little one. I wanted to give you a family, a home filled with love. But all I can give you is me.”
In that moment of despair, she felt a flicker of warmth in her heart—a reminder of the divine light that had always been with her. Though her family had turned against her, she knew she wasn’t alone. The Savior’s hand was still guiding her, even in this darkness.
And as Zara wiped away her tears, she made a promise to herself and her child. She would rise above this pain, above this betrayal. She would be strong, not because of her family’s support, but in spite of their rejection. She would carve out a new life, one filled with love and light, for herself and her baby.
They deserved that much.
