"Skai be fast. I also need to have my bath too don't you think?'', my best friend screams from outside the bathroom door.

"Patience woman give me a break. I'll be out soon,okay?".

I sigh. This girl is going to be the death of me she complains about every single I do but I like it that way, it pushes me forward to do new things. 

Today I and Tessa are going to resume our work.

Well we just got accepted not as interns but full time workers.

We are working at a restaurant and hotel downtown in California. Lord it's being long I had a normal life after my break up with Harry, well not a breakup but a heart break to me I thought he was my Mr. Right guess he wasn't.

I'm interrupted by the banging.

"You better open this door or else I'll break it down", Tessa yelled.

"I'm coming" and with that I open the door.

"I can't believe you almost made to break down the door you are ju-'', she says angrily but then smiles and swats my arm which is much less painful than it seems.

I walk into the room to get dressed and prepare for my first day when a call interupts me from my dream world.

"Hi mum, it's been a while," I say.

"Good morning darling, how's my baby doing?'', she says happily and I know she is smiling.

"I'm good, always will be so please get to the point". I say curtly, actually I'm just talking like this so my mom can spill the beans.

"I heard your starting to work today well that's good and I also want to-'', she trails off.

"What mum?''

"Well I and your dad are coming to stay at your place for a week to see our baby girl it's been a while", my mom says.

"Yeah a while, five good years if that's what you mean", I add sarcastically.

"I'm sorry baby you know we've been so busy from my business to your dad's, you got to understand" she says and I slightly wish she was here with me.

"Yea yeah am not a baby anymore mum", I say trying to force myself to believe what I had said.

"Forget about that, I heard you started dating so tell me whose the lucky guy", my mum asks inquistively.

"What I'm confused?" I ask confused.

I was in no relationship neither was I conceiving the idea to be in one.

"Well Tess told me about a day ago that you and your Harry have been dating for a while so I want to meet your Harry."

"Ugh". 

Tess can be so frustrating sometimes, she knows that Harry is dating Ariel from the library. 

Gosh who ever knew that girl was a green snake in a green grass.

"Earth to Skai, you really need to listen to me. I want to meet your man and I just know he will be the right one," my mum says and I'm pretty sure she is crying.

"Well mum actually it's a lie about umm....."

"About what?,she seems a little surprised and caught off guard and I don't want to ruin their happiness because of my selfishness.

"It's a lie about me liking him but rather I'm so much in love and obsessed with him."

"Well I'm so happy and proud of you. My baby is finally growing up."

"Thanks mum love you".

"You too darling".

After the call, I feel so unsure of what to do. On one hand tell them the truth and be the biggest disappointment they will ever have or just lie and come clean when they arrive. Well they both sound the same but I'll rather go with the first.

"Skai I've been calling you for a while did you black out or what?''

"Actually no I need you to tell me why you lied to my mom about me dating my Harry", I say half screaming. Tessa looked at me shocked. She was actually a year older than me.

"Well thank you, I was trying to get you out of that shell of your head. You were really antisocial and you were depressed the least you could say is a thank you. I think I deserve one", she rounded up her speech with a wide grin on her face and couldn't help but smile.

"Well let's get going tomorrow will take care of itself'', I sigh inwardly.

I still feel bad for lying.

Just when we got outside, our neighbour that I don't know his name comes out of his apartment. He has been here for about six months precisely, and this time he's with another dumb chick. I don't understand guys like him, discard girls so easily. I hope I will never date a playboy.

I raise my head high as I pass his door and pretend not to see him and his bimbo hugging.

Really I don't even know why I'm getting mad, I guess Tess was right I am feeling depressed because of Harry.

"SK we need to hurry we've got an hour left remember first impressions are always the most important."

"I know so how tight is our schedule for today ?"

"Well am not sure but I have a date with Louis by five and I can't miss it. Next Friday is also our anniversary."

Sometimes I'm happy for Tess and the other times I find myself being jealous. 

Why can't I just have a life where I have a sweet charming and caring boyfriend but turns out the other way.

"Well best of luck".

"I don't need luck Louis is the only luck I have and God."

"Ok I already ordered an Uber".

"Sure'', she says slowly.

"What?

"Aren't you bothered about your parents coming?'', she asks and I gradually notice that she was feeling guilty.

"I would not be if you hadn't kept your big mouth to yourself".

"The Uber is here'', she said avoiding my gaze.

In the taxi Tess started small talk.

"Guess what?"

"What", I say slightly uninterested.

"My followers just tripled to two million followers. What about you ?"

"Hmm. Let me check".

I wasn't social and I didn't post so much so I wasn't that excited.

"It's still three thousand", I say dryly.

"And one, look cheer up all you need is just a thousand more photos ok", she chims happily and I can't help but smile, she has being my only friend and I wonder how she is still sticking around with me.

I am so prim and boring while she is the opposite.

Sometimes I wish I was her who could tell someone down to their face, social and wild at times.

"We here".

Actually I am a black but Tess doesn't seem to mind and she started having our accent.

"Y'know I'm so excited", I smile at her.

"Me too", she smiles as she pays the Uber driver.

Hotel dé charlieé was one of the prominent hotels here in California. We got as our gate pass as soon as we got there, then we were excorted to the back of the building which was really huge.

"You know I'm really surprised I mean we got this job a bit too fast and my papa say he gat connections but you know I don't believe that".

"Yes I do now get your a*s in there", she playfully shoved me in.

When we got in, we were given our ID cards, pens, two notebooks, and an apron with our names printed by the side. They seemed so coordinated and prepared well maybe because Valentines day was at the corner.

"Oh my gosh I officially just got my first job", Tess squealed.

"Yah, I know can you just stop being overdramatic", I say slightly worn off.

We got the job way too fast...

"Okay, you seem so off lately what's wearing you off ?"

"I don't know first of all and second of all I think it because my parents coming next week".

"Oh I get it the stress. Same with me but you know all you have to do is call Harry and tell him to be your pretend boyfriend".

"Are you sick, that way I'll seem desperate and I don't want to look stupid". 

Truth be is that I was actually embarrassed of facing Harry again but I guess the excuses worked as well.

"Where are the new receptionists?

A fair lady with red hair asked.

"We here, I mean we are here", I  say I really need to give up my accent.

"Sure follow me'', she walks briskly into another room which bigger than my whole apartment, I think she called it our work station where we will be staying during lunch breaks.

Then she led us to another door, this place was so grand with gold chandeliers, gold satin curtains and drapes,white and gold carpets, white vintage tables and chairs, collections of different wines and spirits,and then my table.

OMG it's going down y'all, it's white painted with gold and the edges and it seems to have a velvety feel.

"This girl looks like second heaven",Tess says beaming widely.

"It does", and I can't help but smile.

After settling at different locations, Tess was at the exit and I was at the entry. Not up to thirty minutes, all first customer entered and guess who was the last person I expected to show up----
