Chapter 8

Dotun’s POV

Life outside college was a bit hard, I ventured into business, but you know how business is, one day you're making profits and the next you are incurring losses, for two years I struggled with my business but I finally caught a break with a supply I made, the man was to build a multi storey, which will be used as a hotel, I supplied cements, ranging from Dangote’s cement, Elephant and POP cement and the Paints as well, took me a while to master this business but I think I finally got the hang of it, supplying all the cements used and paints for this hotel brought me more opportunities and made my paint famous which in turn got me more patronage, after a big supply like this one I looked for other investment platforms and I invested a little here and alittle there, so gradually I was accumulating wealth, I was still with Lizzy so we have been together for about four years now and I was thinking of settling down but each time I try to discuss this with her, her view made me sceptical, I knew she was passionate about all things women but I didn’t know she was such an extremist.

I got another big supply for an estate building and I’ll be meeting with the building team for them to decide on the make of cement they prefer and also the type of paint we will be producing for them, our meeting was scheduled for Wednesday but Tuesday evening I went out on a date with Lizzy to a restaurant whose specialty was Indian cuisines, the food were so spicy and after only a mouth full I took my glass of water and drank it in a hurry, I thought I saw someone familiar walk by, she was wearing a red long overflowing gown, the gown was sleeveless and body hugging, she certainly has her curves in the right places, I looked up but could only catch the back view of this mystery woman, red is Ire’s favourite colour and this person certainly looks like her, my heart was pounding heaving in my chest and I was disoriented for a while, Lizzy kept starring and trying to get my attention, she noticed I was staring at someone but could not pin point who it was, I excused myself promptly and ran out so as to catch up with her but I guess luck was not on my side, I went back in and Lizzy made the rest of the night an uncomfortable one for me as she kept nagging about how I must have been checking out a girl, she was right only this was no ordinary girl, this was “my Ire’’ and she is far from been a girl, she is now a woman.

Throughout that night I kept on thinking about Ire, I even said a short prayer that God will help me locate her once again, for sometimes now I thought have moved on but seeing her last night or the person who looked like her brought back all of my old feeling and suddenly Lizzy looked so pale in comparison to her but I wasn't even sure she was the one, I mean yeah the familiarity was there but what if am mistaking, well that didn’t stop me from hoping to see her again, couldn’t sleep much that night and seeing as I have a meeting to attend by 8am on Wednesday I had to get out of bed by 7am, I was a bit grumpy though but I’ll have to find a way to get myself in a good mood so I can relate well with my customers.

Our meeting was scheduled to hold at my warehouse, I have an office by the side which will be perfect for receiving guests, by 8am sharp I heard a light knock on my office door and my receptionist peeped in to inform me that my guests have arrived, I asked her to send them in and in walked a pretty lady with a young man, they appear to be in their early twenties, well am not much older than them, am just twenty-seven. I gestured for them to seat and seeing that I have only two seats for guest in my office the guy who I later learnt is called Jide said, I think you’ll need to call for an extra seat, our madam is on the way, I quickly made a phone call to the receptionist who brought a chair in within five minutes, Jide introduced himself and the Lady with him as Tola, he said the boss lady should be arriving soon, turns out Tola was the one who contacted us on phone concerning the supply and this meeting, we engaged in small chit chats while waiting for the ‘boss lady’.

After about ten minutes someone walked in briskly and was checking in her bag for her something at the same time offering her apologies for coming late when suddenly she looked up and a loud gasp escaped her mouth, she exclaimed Dotun but I was too stunned to respond immediately, I was so excited to see her but too stunned to react, i just kept staring at her in awe, luck was on my side after all, I didn’t even have to go out to find her, here she was standing right in front of me, I stood up quietly and she stepped into my arms, my heart was literally doing cartwheel at this moment, to say am excited is an understatement of the way I feel right now, I didn’t know I’ll find her so easily ‘My Ire’ was here. We finally let go of each other after what felt like forever and I saw Jide and Tola staring at us in a weird way, apparently they've never seen the boss lady display so much emotions or even hugging a man, she had always stick to the formal business hand shake.
