Chapter 19The dry, icy wind cuts through my wool jacket and chills my bones. I'm glad I chose to wear my scarf, gloves and the ridiculous, over-sized, Russian-style hat with ear flaps that Patricia bought me for mornings such as this. She thinks it makes me look cute, but right now, I don't care how I look as long as I'm warm. When I switch on the car engine the temperature gauge reads four degrees. The season has definitely changed and winter is upon us. The windscreen, which I first thought was covered in frost, is just grubby and streaky. I clean it before I set off. At least I can drive with my headlights on for part of the way, as I'm unlikely to meet many other cars this early in the morning.
