Chapter 26A very contrite Albert arrives in the office the next day. His face is chalk-white and puffy, and dark grey hollows surround his bloodshot eyes. “I've come to apologise,” he says. He can't look any of us in the eye. “I've been a fool, a complete i***t. I was out of my head with alcohol and I know it's no excuse, but I was upset, absolutely distraught.” We are all staring at him, but no one says a word.
