Chapter Two

2627 Words
Georgina's POV I took a disappointed sigh and went out of my father's building. According to Helen, my father's secretary, he is away for a business trip to New York and will be back after a month. There is no available position right now in the company for me. I decided to do the job hunting in order to do something. I will go crazy doing nothing. I drove home and started to browse for available job that suits my area of specialization and experience. After an hour, I've already applied at four companies and two of them replied and invited me for an interview tomorrow. I replied and accepted their invitation. One is in the morning and the other one is in the afternoon. I stayed in my apartment for the whole day. I cleaned and cooked my dinner. I prepared my corporate attire for tomorrow's interview and slept early to impress my future employer if I would be so lucky. …………………………………………… Today is my first day at Anderson Incorporated as the Executive Assistant for the CEO. I couldn’t meet him during my interview because he was away during that time. I'm so excited and woke up early. After breakfast, I readied myself and went out of my apartment to the basement parking. I was driving while humming thru the music from the radio and ready to turn to my right when a black jaguar overtakes my car. I heard a loud bump and thankfully I am wearing my seat belt. I closed my eyes and memories from the past crossed my mind one by one. I shivered remembering the day of my accident. I heard a gentle knock on my window, I turned to them absentmindedly. I opened the window and I saw a burly man leaning with a worried expression. "Are you okay Miss?" He asked. I nodded my head repeatedly still my mind floating. He saw me shaking and panicking. "I can bring you to the hospital if you want Miss. You're shaking. I'm sorry our driver didn't see you and turned at the same time." He said apologetically. I took a deep breath and calmed my nerves. I have no time to argue or made a snarky comment. It wasn't his and my fault. I mean common we're both at fault here. "No, it's okay Sir. Here's my card if the damage is huge, just contact me. I just need to go to work, I’m late already. I'm okay really." I said reassuringly and smiled at him. He seems kind despite his scary appearance. "Are you sure? Here is my card, we can settle this once you're free." The guy said kindly. I accepted the card and smiled at him. He excused himself and drove away from the road. I glanced at the card. Brandon McAdams, Head Security, with his contact numbers and address. I put the card on my dashboard and heave a deep sigh. Relax Georgina. Relax. When a traffic officer asked me if I'm okay, I told him everything is alright and drove so fast because I am already late on my first day at work. I hope Mr. Anderson don't fire me for being late on my first day. I searched him via internet, and he is a fifty-year-old businessman with a lot of successful business ventures in the world of construction business. He built most of the tallest buildings in the world. He also owned a lot of hotel and resorts. I also read about how cruel and strict he is. I have arrived at the building and went out of my car quickly. I went to the elevator and pressed the top floor as instructed by HR Manager who interviewed me last week. I checked my appearance from the glass wall of the elevator and applied a little lip gloss because I looked as pale as a ghost. I took a deep breath when the elevator arrived in my destination. I am almost an hour late. Oh Gosh. I went to the small reception area with a middle-aged woman typing on her computer. I cleared my throat and she glanced up and smiled at me. "Good morning. How can I help?" The lady smiled warmly at me. I felt my heart went goo-goo. "Good morning. My name is Georgina Yvonne Valdez. Today is my first day as the CEO’s Executive Assistant. Mr. Grant of HR instructed me to come straight here." I explained out of breath. "Oh, I was expecting you an hour ago. Are you alright honey? You look so pale. By the way, my name is Lucy, I am the secretary of Mr. Anderson." The lady said watching me closely. "I'm sorry I'm late. I met a little accident on the road, but I am okay now. Thanks Lucy. And nice to meet you." I said blushing. I never received any concern from the people since my mother died. Ah there's Helen always reminded me of everything to take care of myself when I was in Cali. She's the only one who cares for me. "It's okay honey. You can go inside. Mr. Anderson is waiting for you. I'm sure he'll understand." Lucy said reassuringly seeing my nervousness. I smiled gently at her and walked nervously towards the door with the CEO engraved on it. I knocked twice and I heard a deep voice said, "Come in". I took a deep breath and open the door to enter. I was welcomed with the smell of wood furniture and a cologne that is very familiar to me, but I couldn't remember where I smelt it. The room is very neat and very welcoming. I glanced at the man standing behind the big oak desk looking outside the glass wall. You can see the London eye from here. The view is magnificent. I cleared my throat to greet him. "Good morning Sir. I'm sorry I'm late." I said nervously while playing with my fingers. He turned into me and I gasped seeing him. Not because he is very young but because he is the most gorgeous man I've ever seen in my life. His green eyes looked through my soul. His prominent jaw is perfect with his pinkish lips. His body is also to die for. You can see his bulging muscles from the perfect fit of his Armani suit. I felt a huge admiration seeing this Greek God beauty in front of me. "It's okay Ms. Valdez. I guess you have a valid reason. But this is your last warning. I hate tardiness. Please have a seat." His voice cut my wandering eyes and I felt my face blushed scarlet red. I recovered from my daydreaming and sat on the chair in front of him murmuring thank you to him. He sat down and open the black folder with my files. I sat nervously waiting for him to say something. I heard him cleared his throat and stared at me for a moment. I blushed at bowed my head shyly. "So, Ms. Valdez, how are you related to Mr. George Emerson Valdez of Valdez Industrial Corporation?" He said still staring straight in my eyes. I didn't know what to say. As much as possible, I do not want to involve my father's company or anything. It has nothing to do with my employment.  "By the way, I am Zeus Miguel Anderson, CEO of Anderson Incorporated." He continued when I didn't say anything. I glanced up and acknowledge his offered hand. "Nice to meet you Sir." I said shaking his hand and didn't mention my name since he already knew. I thought Mr. Anderson is an old man. He is probably the son. "Same here, Ms. Valdez." He said squeezing my hand gently. I felt an electric volt from the contact, and I pulled my hand from his and blushed. "Just call me Zeus, Ms. Valdez. Or should I call you Georgina?" He said and sat back on his chair. Why would I? He is my boss. First name basis seems unprofessional. "Ahhm of course Zeus." I answered shyly. Order by the boss. What will I do? "So, from my question?" Mr. Anderson asked again waiting for my answer. Oh my gosh. I cleared my throat and answered nervously. "He is my father Sir." "So why are you here? Why not work with your own company?" He asked again. This is a very sensitive subject for me. Mr. Jones also asked me about this question when I applied to his company two years ago. "Ahhm there is no available position right now Sir." I answered suddenly I felt something squeezing my heart. "Why don't you ask your father about giving you a position? I think he can do something about it?" He continued asking personal question and I felt angry towards him. What's with the questions? But he is my boss. He is just curious maybe. "I haven't talk to him since the last seven years Sir. And the real reason is I want to build my own career without his help. I can do it on my own Sir." I explained emphasizing the word Sir. He cleared his throat. "Okay, so about your job---." He said and I heaved a very deep sigh. We discussed about my job and settled on my desk at the corner of his office. I frowned because I am expecting to have my own office or cubicle to work, not inside his office but I didn't say my opinion. He is the boss after all. I started my work and familiarize the files he gave me after Lucy gave me a tour in the office. I felt it. I know he is staring at me and I felt conscious. I glanced up and caught him looking at me intently. He didn't avert his gaze and stared at me still. I blushed and bowed my head. What is wrong with him? Do I have something in my face? "You are so beautiful Georgina." I heard him say and I gasped staring at him with wide eyes. "Ahhm thank you Sir." I murmured blushing. "I told you to call me by my name Georgina." He said reminding me. "I'm sorry Zeus. But I am not comfortable calling you on your first name." I said apologetically. "It's okay. Mr. Anderson is my father. Do I look like I am old?” He said, and I shook my head no. It's almost lunch. Care to join me?" He said as if it's a normal thing to ask his assistant to lunch. "I--ah--I don't think it's appropriate Sir." I answered stuttering. "It's okay. My previous assistant always joined me everywhere I go. That is her job and now yours anyway." He said standing up and get his key. He went to my side and smiled. His panty dropping smile and extended hand to help me up. "Let's go?" He said smiling at me. I felt my heart beating abnormally and shyly accepted his hand. I felt the electric volt again. I gathered my bag and let him lead me outside our office. Our office. Lucy smiled at us when she saw us and waved.   Zeus Miguel's POV God! I was speechless. She looks dashing wearing simple corporate attire, but the confidence is there. She carried herself with too much class and poise. I want her. I need to have her. She's driving me crazy. Seven years without her is torture. I stopped following her since she left for California. Only a discreet report from her whereabouts. No pictures aside from her arrival to London. But despite not seeing her, I had her followed. I know everything about her. As in everything. Even how she likes her coffee and how she loves eating pistachio nuts flavored ice cream, I knew about everything. She never dated anyone and never had a friend in California. Just acquaintances but never been that close to her. I helped her out of my car and led her inside the restaurant. People stared at us and most of the men looked at her with admiration. I placed a protective arm around her waist and glared at them. I heard her gasped but ignored her and led her to where the waiter leads us. The waiter took our order and after a while our order arrives, and we started to eat. "Why are you so silent?" She glanced up shyly at me. She changed. A lot. She's not the same girl I've watched before. The girl who almost killed herself from too much drinking. "Tell me something about you." I said after a long silence. She cleared her throat and answered. "My life is boring. Not much to say." She said while sipping her wine. I called the waiter and ordered dessert. "Tell me about your life in California." I said adjusting from my chair. "I graduated there and landed a job for two years working in a shipping company. I learned a lot. But then, things changed, so I decided to go home. I missed my father so much." She answered and her voice broke saying the last sentence. I saw her eyes glistened and I scolded myself for asking. I went to her side and knelt beside her, holding her hands in her lap. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ask something personal. Did I offend you? Are you okay?" I said soothingly caressing her hands on mine. She blushed again and nodded her head shyly at me, gesturing for me to stand. “No, I’m okay.” I squeezed her hands gently and stood up. I went back to my chair and smiled at her warmly. She smiled back and I felt my heart jump with joy. Her smile is really my undoing. Our dessert arrived and I saw her eyes in delight and confirmed at the waiter if that is really what she thought. The waiter nodded yes, and she squealed in excitement. "You ordered my favorite ice cream! Thank you." She said in happiness. I chuckled from her excitement and asked her to dig in. She complied and started to eat the ice cream with glee. I felt like I achieved one of my goal to make her happy. It is better than achieving my business deals. After lunch we went back to the office and work. We attended two meetings and it lasted until seven. We need to sort some documents for tomorrow's meeting and decided to order dinner with Lucy joining us. It's almost midnight when we finished. So much for her first day. Lucy left already and we both turned off our computer. I turned to her and asked her if it's okay if I drop her home. She hesitated at first because she has her car which I heard from Brandon got a damage. I told her I will let my driver drive her car and I will drive with her and she agreed. We arrived at her apartment building and I ushered her unto her doorstep. I cleared my throat and stared at her. "I'm sorry for giving you the most tiring first day at work Georgina." I said looking in her eyes. I couldn’t help and caress her warm cheek. It is very soft. She leaned in closely on my palm and closed her eyes before answering. "It's alright. I'm used to do it in Cali. I almost spent my whole day in the office. So, no worries." She answered and her eyes widened realizing she’s enjoying my palm on her cheek. I stared at her inviting lips and couldn't help but placed a soft kiss on her cheeks gently. She opened her eyes wide and blinked repeatedly shocked. "Good night Georgina. Lock the door after you enter. Hmm?" She nodded absentmindedly and murmured a thanks. I saw her placed her fingers on her cheek looking so lost before I turned and entered the elevator. I waved at her before the elevator door closed. I smirked. Piece of cake...
