육십 삼번째 왕관 (63)
“Your Highness! Your Highness!” Jae Kyung called him, panting. “I have something to tell you!”
Prince Yi Eul could see the excitement in her face and albeit he’s not really that interested, he asked her. “Okay, then, what is it?”
“Your Highness, I received a—” before Jae Kyung could finish her sentence, his phone rang. He raised his finger for her to pause for a second.
He was expecting that the queen’s secretary was calling him but it’s not.
His expression changed as soon as he saw the name flashing on his screen.
내 다현 (My Da Hyun)
Albeit she broke up with her and even though he kind of angry at her, he didn’t remove her name from his contacts.
“Hello?” he was about to spat at her by asking why the heck she’s calling her but he got interrupted by an unknown female voice on the other line.
“Are you Eul? Da Hyun asked me—or more like insisted to call you.”
From his grim expression, it slightly changed into a softer one.
Eul. How nostalgic.
“Yes, it’s me. Why?”
“Uh, we sent Da Hyun to the hospital because she got injured and actually fainted. She badly needs you to see her right now.”
His expression suddenly changed into a shock, confused and worried.
“Jeonha...” he heard Jae Kyung called him but because his thoughts were filled with Da Hyun right now, he didn’t pay attention to her.
“Do Wan, prepare the car. I need to go somewhere urgent,” Prince Yi Eul said to his bodyguard who responded to him with a bow. He, then, turned his head to Jae Kyung and spoke. “I will go somewhere and it’s very urgent. I’m canceling the dinner appointment. You stay here.”
“Uh, Your Highness.”
“Just tell me what you wanna tell me later,” he said then he hurriedly went out of the house with Do Wan (only Do Wan), leaving her alone with the servants and the bodyguards.
With his black sunglasses, black face mask, and hat, Prince Yi Eul went inside the private ward where Da Hyun was staying. Do Wan was the one who talked to Da Hyun’s manager and assistant which, fortunately, he was given a chance to talk to her in private without them recognizing that he’s the Crown Prince.
Da Hyun was attentive that she automatically noticed Prince Yi Eul entering her room. She was sitting on her bed, wearing a hospital gown and her ankle was wrapped with bandages. Her expression softened and she smiled at him. “Yi Eul-ah...”
Even if he won’t admit it, Prince Yi Eul was happy that he saw Da Hyun like this again.
He silently walked towards her as he removed his sunglasses and facemask. He, then, muttered her name. “Da Hyun.”
“So, you’re mother is at it again?” Prince Yi Eul asked. He knew how professional Da Hyun was at work so it’s really impossible for her to get injured while performing.
Except if she’s distracted. And so, it was.
Both Da Hyun and Prince Yi Eul were friends—and actually became lovers—during High School and all those years that they became together, he knew what’s happening in Da Hyun’s life—and that includes her relationship with her mother.
Da Hyun sighed and nodded. “I don’t actually know why she is forcing me on the things that she wanted me to do. Can’t she see it? I’m already successful with my career as a K-Pop idol right now and I even let her leech half of my income just for her to let me do what I want and piss off but... she still wanted me to go abroad and be a ballerina. Damn, it’s not my obligation to fulfill her failed dreams for her.”
“I already told you many times about this, right? Whatever she’ll gonna say to you, don’t let it affect you just like now. You’re the one who’s actually got affected and suffering from all the pressure she gave you. I know we shouldn’t think ill about our family especially our parents but this ain’t it. If she can’t support you because she thought you’re a failure then do better for yourself, not for her. Prove her wrong that you don’t need to be a famous ballerina to make her proud of you. You love your career and what you’re doing right now so don’t let her stop you on that,” Prince Yi Eul said.
Da Hyun was silent, staring at him in awe.
He couldn’t help but frown at her. “What?”
“I didn’t expect you’ll say those words, Eul-ah. Usually, you’ll just gonna curse at my mom by saying that she’ll stop meddling my life and f**k off but now, you’re actually giving me words of wisdom right now,” she couldn’t help but chuckle as she commented.
That actually made Prince Yi Eul pause for a moment.
“Thank you! You’re the best! You’re the best prince ever!”
“Am I?” he couldn’t help but ask.
“I was expecting that you’ll not be going to see you again after our conversation last time in Han River. I really thought you resent me,” Da Hyun couldn’t help but smile as she spoke again. “I was actually thankful that you came to see me again.”
“You know I’ll get mad but I never resent you,” he responded. “And my wife told me not to hold grudges at people.”
He paused at that. He didn’t actually think about it when he said it.
Goddamn, why did I even say that?! It’s not like Jae Kyung was involved in this!
Before he could utter a word, Da Hyun gently pulled him for a hug.
Her scent. He f*****g missed her scent.
He slowly closed his eyes and hugged her in the same intensity as hers, burying his nose on her hair. He craved for her touch, for her scent, for seeing her again.
“I miss you so much, Eul-ah...” he heard her, sobbing as she hugged him even tighter.
He wanted to say those words in the same enthusiasm as she did.
“M-Me too...” he muttered, as if something’s blocking his throat to say those words. “Me too...”
But something’s off... something is really off.
Prince Yi Eul couldn’t help but sigh as soon as he’s finally home.
People might think that it’s wrong that he went to his ex like that since he’s already married (even though it’s fake) and people will think he’s cheating on his wife but he couldn’t help it. Da Hyun needed him that time.
Albeit they’re not lovers anymore, Da Hyun was still his friend and his special person so he had to respond to her call since that was the first time she ever called him after they split ways temporarily. When he heard that she was caught in an accident, he immediately went to her. She’s the only person that invaded his mind that he totally forgot about Jae Kyung.
Right... Jae Kyung.
His eyes settled on Jae Kyung who was silently sitting on the sofa. He didn’t actually expect that she’s still up because it’s already two in the morning. Usually, this lazy bum never stayed up without any reason.
But here she was, staying up in silence.
“Why are you still awake?” Prince Yi Eul asked.
With that, Jae Kyung’s attention settled on him. She stood up and looked at him. “You went to her, didn’t you?”
He couldn’t help but frown. He was not used to Jae Kyung asking about his personal businesses except if she wanted to tease him. But right now, this is completely different.
“You went to her, didn’t you?”
He could see the slight resentment on her expression.
Or maybe, he was just overthinking.
“It was all over the news that she got injured and even fainted so I thought you went to her,” she said.
“What’s with it to you? My personal businesses don’t concern you. You may be my fake wife but you’re not allowed to meddle in my personal issues. You’re just my employee. Don’t cross the f*****g line,” he sounded annoyed that he subconsciously said those to her.
Prince Yi Eul saw how shock and kind of hurt Jae Kyung was the moment he said those words. Before he could take his words back, Jae Kyung spoke. “Of course, I’m aware of that, Your Highness. I am just your wife in front of the people and your mere assistant inside your house. I was just concerned how you immediately went out of the house without any preparation and disguise after all. I was just concern about you getting caught by the paparazzi and that will make a huge ruckus if that will happen. I know it’s a pain in the ass and you don’t want that and it’s even a burden for me to clean the mess if that will happen. I’m sorry for crossing the line, Your Highness. I apologize,” she said and bowed down. “Rest now, Your Highness. Have a good night.”
He just watched her turn her back on him and went straight to her room. He didn’t even bother calling her to clear things up.
With Jae Kyung felt hurt at that.

Greetings Dream Hwa Publishing Staff,
I’m so happy that you actually paid attention to my novel on FictionPad “Dealing Prince Arrogant” and wanting to get this published under your company but I’m sorry to say that I have to decline the offer. I know this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that you gave me but I don’t think my novel is ready for this stage and so I am.
I’m sorry and have a good night.
Jae Kyung sighed as soon as she sent the said e-mail. She closed her laptop and leaned her back on her chair. She put her right arm over her eyes and before she knew it, her tears were rolling down her face.
