예순 여덟번째 왕관 (68)
“Your Highness, your men are already on it.”
Gracefully put her teacup on the saucer, Princess Chae Rin looked at the person in front of her and flaunted her evil smirk towards him.
“I want those two dead. Make sure that as soon as they’ll enter the premises, they’re already shot dead.”
Before Jae Kyung could even walk ahead, Prince Yi Eul suddenly pulled her for a hug which made her gasp in shock. She was about to push him and ask if what’s wrong when she heard a ‘bang!’ and in a nanosecond, the bodyguards surrounded them and some of them even running in the directions that she didn’t know anymore with guns in their hands with Do Wan actually leading them.
Jae Kyung slowly looked up at Prince Yi Eul who’s now holding a gold and white revolver gun aiming at somewhere.
“So they actually went ahead of us, huh?” he muttered.
“What—”
“Somebody’s going to assassinate us and they’re now inside the house.”
“Wait—what?! What do you mean—what?! Are you serious?!” Jae Kyung asked, obviously panicking on what she heard from the Crown Prince.
She screamed and immediately covered her ears when she heard the continuous gunshots around them. She even felt herself getting dragged by Prince Yi Eul to hide behind the car and he even stood up and hide, stood up and hide as he exchanged gunshots with the assassins inside his house.
“f*****g intruders,” he cursed under his breath. Fortunately, he brought his bug with him as he immediately wore it on his left ear and turn it on. “Do Wan, what’s the situation inside.”
“Some of the servants and the guards were injured, Your Highness. Six of them were actually dead,” Do Wan responded to him.
“f**k,” he cursed once again. “Just what the f**k that they had this audacity to ruin my parents’ house? Standby, I’m coming inside.”
“What? But Your Highness, it’s dangerous!” Do Wan appealed but the Crown Prince was just so hard-headed to take his words.
Prince Yi Eul turned to Jae Kyung and slightly pushed her to one of his guards. “You stay here,” he looked at his guard and albeit he didn’t say a word, the guard nodded and gently held Jae Kyung and took her inside the car.
“Your Highness! Your Highness!” Jae Kyung shouted as she kept on knocking on the car’s window as she looked at Prince Yi Eul cautiously ran inside the house along with his bodyguards.
She was about to open the car’s door and go out but one of Prince Yi Eul’s bodyguards held her wrist to stop him. “You can’t go out, Your Highness. It’s too dangerous for you.”
“But, the Crown Prince! My husband’s in danger!” she shouted at him, out of anxiousness and panic.
“Don’t worry, Your Highness. We’ll make sure that His Royal Highness will be safe. Do Wan’s with him so he’ll be safe. Just please, stay here for your safety.”
Before Jae Kyung could even fight back, the bodyguard went out of the car, closing all the car’s doors to secure her as they fought the assassins and guard her at the same time.
Jae Kyung was so anxious that she felt that she might die in her seat. It’s almost half an hour and the Crown Prince didn’t return as well as Do Wan. The bodyguards were planning to take her home instead of waiting for the Crown Prince to return.
“We must take the Princess back to their home for her safety. Secretary Jeong was also there to accompany her. The four of you, escort the Princess home.”
“Yes, we should—GONGJU-MAMA!” before they could even make a move and chase her, Jae Kyung was already inside the house.
“We’re doomed! The princess is in danger! Follow and get her!”
Unlike the movies, she’s not some kind of an idiotic female character that will yell someone’s name to give assurance to herself that he or she is alive or not. Jae Kyung cautiously went inside the house, made all of her senses alert, and searched for possible effective weapons for self-defense.
She could actually hear the gunshots inside the house. The house is quite big so the gunshots and some random thuds and chattering were echoing inside, even the grunts of people inside. She cautiously searched for anyone, especially the Crown Prince if he’s safe or not. She made her actions quiet and fast at the same time. She immediately went to the second floor of the house and walked to the west wing and found Prince Yi Eul cautiously holding a Caliber 45, which she suspected that he got to someone since his revolver was out of bullets.
Jae Kyung was about to run towards him when she saw someone suddenly popped out of nowhere holding a rifle.
It seemed like the Crown Prince noticed the presence behind him so he immediately ducked when the guy did a shot before he stood up again and pointed his Caliber 45 to the assassin.
“Not so fast, Your Highness,” the assassin said, smirking behind his mask.
“Who sent you?” Prince Yi Eul asked him right away.
“I will answer that… if you’re dead already!” he was about to shoot Prince Yi Eul and the latter was also ready to shoot him as well when the assassin suddenly went down to his knees and fainted.
“Damn, you’re not in a movie.”
“Jae Kyung?!” Prince Yi Eul called her name in confusion. “What the f**k are you doing here?!”
Jae Kyung’s eyes settled on him and she immediately gasped and exhaled in relief. “You’re safe! Thank God you’re safe!”
That actually made Prince Yi Eul’s chest felt warmth for a split second but he spat at her again. “What the f**k are you doing here?! I told you to stay with Seok Min! I told you to go home!”
“I was so worried!” Jae Kyung shouted at him. “It’s almost half an hour and I thought something happened to you that’s why I hurriedly came here to see if you’re okay! I was so worried damn it!”
That actually made Prince Yi Eul stares at her in awe. Before he could utter a word, he noticed another assassin pointing his rifle at Jae Kyung so he immediately ran towards her, yelling her name, and pulled her closer to him, covering her.
He got shot.
He got shot twice and Jae Kyung heard and saw how the bullets went to his right shoulder and leg in which he grunted and fell on his knees with her.
“Jeonha! Jeonha!” she called him as he grunted and wincing in pain. He looked so tired and pale that Jae Kyung could actually feel herself crying.
“J-Jae Kyung, run,” Prince Yi Eul muttered.
Jae Kyung shook her head as she held him. “No, no I won’t! I won’t leave you!”
“f**k, stop being such a hard-head and run!” he shouted at her. “Run!”
“Damn it, I won’t leave you here, Yi Eul! Neol tteonaji aneul geoya, i gaejassik-ah!” (*I won’t leave you, you bastard!)
The assassin pointed the gun at them and Prince Yi Eul could actually feel that his strength slowly fading because of the wounds and shots that he got.
Jae Kyung’s eyes settled somewhere as the assassin kept pointing the gun at them and laugh. “Say goodbye to your thrones, Your Highnesses.”
Albeit shaking, Jae Kyung grabbed the gun from Prince Yi Eul and in both trembling hands, she pointed the gun to the assassin as well.
“Don’t you dare point your filthy gun at my prince, you bastard!” Jae Kyung spat at him.
“Oh, trying to be brave even if you’re such a scared lady, Princess? Don’t worry, I won’t prolong your agony. Your deaths will be soon,” the assassin told her, laughing. “Say goodbye—aw f**k!”
Jae Kyung, with shaking hands, shot the assassin on the side of his torso. The assassin immediately glared at her, slapped her face, and pointed the rifle once again. “You damn b***h!”
She closed her eyes and was about to pull the trigger when she heard a gunshot. She thought she was shot but she heard something’s falling in front of her.
When she opened her eyes, she saw the assassin lying on the floor dead and Do Wan just a few meters away from them pointing his gun.
“Are you okay, Gongju-mama?!” he asked as he ran towards them.
Jae Kyung didn’t pay attention to him and she crawled back to Prince Yi Eul who was panting. She put the gun down and gently held him in her arms and her dress was drench with Prince Yi Eul’s blood from his wounds.
“Yo-Your Highness, Your Highness can you hear me?!” she asked, slightly shaking the Crown Prince.
“Ugh, yes. Stop it, I’m dizzy,” Prince Yi Eul murmured.
Jae Kyung bit her lower lip and he could feel her trembling yet she still managed to hold him firmly. “Thank God, thank God…”
“Damn, you’re so hard-headed. You really deserve a long scolding,” Prince Yi Eul muttered as he slightly coughed.
Jae Kyung kept on trembling yet she managed to keep her silence.
“And damn, you’re still that annoying Jae Kyung I met,” Prince Yi Eul murmured as he slowly closed his eyes while Jae Kyung kept on holding him.
"Jeonha?" Jae Kyung was worried. She shook Prince Yi Eul.
He was not responding anymore. He was not opening his eyes anymore.
"SEJA-JEONHA!!!"
