Chapter LXX

1250 Words
칠십위 왕관 (70)       That moment, Jae Kyung realized that… It wasn’t confusion. Everything that she felt when she’s with the Crown Prince is not some sort of mere trouble, bother, or confusion. She likes the Crown Prince. She already likes him and took a while for her to realize it. She already likes him… and it’s scary.   She couldn’t help but lean on the backseat when she felt that she’s already exhausted. Prince Yi Eul let her go home so she could rest and she volunteered to bring some clothes for him for two days after and he’ll be going to leave the hospital. Of course, even though she’s a “fake” Crown Princess, she still had the duty as his personal assistant. But the truth is, she just used it as an excuse to clear her mind after she realized everything earlier. She looked at the rearview mirror before she looked at the car’s window, looking at the sky and the clouds outside, contemplating everything after she realized what she really felt about the Crown Prince. All this time, she thought she likes the Grand Prince because for real, Prince Yi Ryeo is every girl’s dream—her dream guy. From the good manners, attitude, good social standing, smart, kind and handsome, you couldn’t ask for more because that’s Prince Yi Ryeo. Such an ideal male lead character in every novel that will make every girl swoon. But why the heck, she likes that ungrateful, arrogant, prideful, hot-headed, impatient—the Crown Prince Yi Eul that has an insane attitude problem that was totally head over heels in love with a K-pop Idol who was his high school sweetheart. Damn, why him…? She couldn’t help but ask herself. Of all people… why him?   “Jae Kyung…” “What is it, Your Highness?” “I hate you. I hate you so much.” “If you hate me, then why are you hugging me like this?” “I hate you so much… and it’s goddamn frustrating me.”   “We’ll never fall in love with each other.” “If six months will end and we’ll going to break up, I hope we’ll still look at each other and smile and that… we’ll be friends as well. I don’t want to lose someone like you as a friend because you’re the only one who has the audacity to defy me yet the one that I can rely on.”   She devastatingly covered her face as she leaned exhaustedly on the backseat of the car. Stop… just stop. Please, heart. Stop beating for him. You know that this will end soon. Don’t like him even more. It’s scary. It’s really getting scary. I don’t want to end up like a side character who will get hurt at the very end. I don’t want to be a villain of someone else’s love story.     A knock made Prince Yi Eul paused on reading the novel Jae Kyung gave to him. It was quite an interesting novel so he didn’t get bored while his wife s***h personal assistant was not around. “Come in,” he muttered. The door opened and Do Wan silently went inside and bowed at him. “Did you get any information from the penetrator?” “Not the full details, Your Highness. The moment he gave us hints, he died. He got killed.” That made Prince Yi Eul closed the book he was reading and looked at Do Wan with a frown. “What? Are you serious? Did anyone of you kill him?” “We didn’t, Your Highness. We strictly obeyed your command that we shouldn’t do anything to the penetrator. Someone killed him. A sniper,” his bodyguard responded. “I hired all of you because you’re all skilled on anything. How come that happened?” Prince Yi Eul was obviously annoyed about what happened. “The sniper was also skilled as well. He even managed to escape us,” Do Wan slightly bowed. “I apologized for what happened, Your Highness. I failed as your bodyguard.” Prince Yi Eul sighed. “Nevermind that. We can’t do anything about it anymore except if we’ll gonna encounter them again. But you said, you got a few important pieces of information, am I right? What is it?” “I don’t know if you’re actually prepared to hear this, Your Highness but…” Prince Yi Eul’s eyes squinted into a sharp gaze the moment Do Wan told him about the said information that he got. “Well… I didn’t expect that.”     A knock made both Do Wan and Prince Yi Eul looked at the door. The latter almost finished with the novel he’s reading when he signaled Do Wan to go to the door to prepare for the possible visitor. “It’s me, Jae Kyung.” That made Do Wan and Prince Yi Eul sigh. “Come in.” The door opened and Jae Kyung’s head peeked on the door’s creak. “Uh, snacks everyone? Eh, don’t leave, Do Wan-ah. We’re going to eat these together.” And I don’t wanna be alone with Prince Yi Eul. Please, have mercy~ Dowan and Prince Yi Eul looked at each other and the latter responded. “Sure.” Jae Kyung grinned and slowly got inside the private ward with all the snack boxes and a luggage bag that she brought for the Crown Prince. Prince Yi Eul frowned and looked at Do Wan. “Since when are you two became close that she called you ‘Do Wan-ah’?” Do Wan just smiled at him. “As long as I could remember, Your Highness.” “You did it again. I told you, you can’t enter my room unless you’re announced with the royal servants,” Prince Yi Eul said as he frowned at her. “Have you forgotten? You only have bodyguards here, not the butlers and the maids in hanbok,” Jae Kyung rolled her eyes then cleared her throat and bowed at the Crown Prince. “Jeonha, Kim Jae Kyung-ui chajawatsseumnida~” “You lazy bum—” Jae Kyung just grinned at him and walked towards Do Wan who actually flinched on her presence. “Here, you should eat up, Do Wan-ah.” He looked at Jae Kyung and bowed as he took some mochis from her. “Thank you.” “I made those! I hope you like it!” “Gomapseumnida, Gongju-mama. I will definitely like this because you made this.” “Hey, I should be the one who will eat first!” Prince Yi Eul immediately reacted, looking at Do Wan who was already chewing the mochi like a bunny. “And stop making that face, Do Wan!” “Do Wan was the nearest on the door so I gave him already. It’s not like I’m not gonna go there, you know?” “Then, come here already. I’m starving.” “Huh. Such a demanding Crown Prince, are we? Ahem. Wangjangnim~ here’s your snacks~” “Stop using that voice.” “What’s wrong with my voice?” “It’s cringy.” “Duh. Just stop complaining and eat up, you phony prince.” “Okay fine, okay.” While Jae Kyung was busy setting the snacks on the mini table, Prince Yi Eul eyed Do Wan and Do Wan nodded at him. “You know what to do.”
