She’s giving him a cold shoulder.
Prince Yi Eul knew that.
Ever since what happened the other night that they subconsciously had an argument, Jae Kyung started to kept her silence and acting obedient yet cold at him.
He didn’t know what the f**k went wrong or what he did wrong towards her because, in the first place, he didn’t do wrong towards her.
Was it the teasing?
No, it’s not. Jae Kyung was too immune to him teasing her.
Then, what is it?
“Kim Jae Kyung,” he called her.
Jae Kyung raised her head towards him, giving him a blank stare which actually made Prince Yi Eul flinch as he tried to suppress what he actually felt.
Damn, this is so annoying.
“I want coffee. Get me some,” he demanded.
Jae Kyung nodded. “I’ll get a servant to make you some.”
“No,” he slightly raised his hand as he responded. “I want you to make a coffee for me. Now, hurry up and make me one.”
He didn’t need or want coffee, to be real honest. He just wanted to tease or maybe piss Jae Kyung off. Of course, he’s anticipating her reaction like she’ll going to yell at him by saying ‘I’m not your servant! Go get your own coffee, you annoying prince!’
Jae Kyung nodded as she put the iPad down on the couch she’s sitting and bowed at him. “Yes, Your Highness.”
“Hey wait—” Prince Yi Eul tried to call her but she’s already on the door and saw Secretary Jeong on the way. She bowed at him as the latter bowed at her as well.
“Where are you going, Your Highness?” Secretary Jeong asked her, obviously seeing Prince Yi Eul’s agitated reaction which he couldn’t help but frown.
“I’ll just get His Royal Highness some coffee. He needed some since he has some work to do. I already set his schedules on the iPad so you can go check it out. I’m actually going to my class right now,” Jae Kyung responded.
“Oh, yes, Your Highness. Thank you so much. I’ll prepare the car for you as well,” Secretary Jeong told her. She nodded and smiled at him after she said her quick ‘thanks’ and went out.
“Why did you let her out?” as soon as Secretary Jeong closed the door, Prince Yi Eul asked him quickly.
“Uh, she said that she’ll get you some coffee, Your Highness so of course, I let Her Highness out,” Secretary Jeong answered.
Prince Yi Eul groaned. “Did I tell you to talk back to me?”
“Your Highness, you actually asked me a question so of course, I have to answer you as a courtesy, Your Highness,” the old secretary answered.
Prince Yi Eul couldn’t help but groan and begrudgingly sat back on his swivel chair.
“If you’ll allow me to ask, Your Highness. Is there something happening between you and Princess Jae Kyung? She’s like she’s not into herself today and you looked so agitated and stressed out as well.”
Prince Yi Eul glared at the door and pointed it. “Why not ask her?! It’s not like I did anything wrong towards her! I have no idea why she’s acting so cold to me right now!”
Secretary Jeong tried his best not to laugh at the Crown Prince. They’re obviously quarreling and fighting like a real couple—if he really didn’t know that Prince Yi Eul and Jae Kyung were just pretending, he might really think they’re an actual couple having a lover’s quarrel.
“Well then, can you recall what did you do the last time you talked to each other or something? Maybe you could recall something important,” the old man told him.
Prince Yi Eul fell silent, as if he’s thinking. Recall what happened that day, huh?
“Your Highness! Your Highness!” Jae Kyung called him, panting. “I have something to tell you!”
Prince Yi Eul could see the excitement in her face and albeit he’s not really that interested, he asked her. “Okay, then, what is it?”
“Your Highness, I received a—” before Jae Kyung could finish her sentence, his phone rang. He raised his finger for her to pause for a second.
“She was actually trying to tell me something but she got interrupted because I answered Da Hyun’s call."
“Hello?” he was about to spat at her by asking why the heck she’s calling her but he got interrupted by an unknown female voice on the other line.
“Are you Eul? Da Hyun asked me—or more like insisted to call you.”
From his grim expression, it slightly changed into a softer one.
“Yes, it’s me. Why?”
“Uh, we sent Da Hyun to the hospital because she got injured and actually fainted. She badly needs you to see her right now.”
His expression suddenly changed into a shock, confused and worried.
“Jeonha...” he heard Jae Kyung called him but because his thoughts were filled with Da Hyun right now, he didn’t pay attention to her.
“Do Wan, prepare the car. I need to go somewhere urgent,” Prince Yi Eul said to his bodyguard who responded to him with a bow. He, then, turned his head to Jae Kyung and spoke. “I will go somewhere and it’s very urgent. I’m canceling the dinner appointment. You stay here.”
“Uh, Your Highness.”
“Just tell me what you wanna tell me later,” he said then he hurriedly went out of the house with Do Wan, leaving her alone with the servants and the bodyguards.
“Then I left her without letting her say what she wanted to tell me. It actually took me hours watching over Da Hyun that’s why I went home late that night and I didn’t expect she’s actually stayed up that night…”
“And…?” Secretary Jeong asked him.
Prince Yi Eul paused for a second before continuing. “And…”
Prince Yi Eul couldn’t help but sigh as soon as he’s finally home.
His eyes settled on Jae Kyung who was silently sitting on the sofa. He didn’t actually expect that she’s still up because it’s already two in the morning. Usually, this lazy bum never stayed up without any reason.
But here she was, staying up in silence.
“Why are you still awake?” Prince Yi Eul asked.
With that, Jae Kyung’s attention settled on him. She stood up and looked at him. “You went to her, didn’t you?”
He couldn’t help but frown. He was not used to Jae Kyung asking about his personal businesses except if she wanted to tease him. But right now, this is completely different.
“You went to her, didn’t you?”
He could see the slight resentment on her expression.
Or maybe, he was just overthinking.
“It was all over the news that she got injured and even fainted so I thought you went to her,” she said.
“What’s with it to you? My personal businesses don’t concern you. You may be my fake wife but you’re not allowed to meddle in my personal issues. You’re just my employee. Don’t cross the f*****g line,” he sounded annoyed that he subconsciously said those to her.
Prince Yi Eul saw how shock and kind of hurt Jae Kyung was the moment he said those words. Before he could take his words back, Jae Kyung spoke. “Of course, I’m aware of that, Your Highness. I am just your wife in front of the people and your mere assistant inside your house. I was just concerned about how you immediately went out of the house without any preparation and disguise after all. I was just concern about you getting caught by the paparazzi and that will make a huge ruckus if that will happen. I know it’s a pain in the ass and you don’t want that and it’s even a burden for me to clean the mess if that will happen. I’m sorry for crossing the line, Your Highness. I apologize,” she said and bowed down. “Rest now, Your Highness. Have a good night.”
He just watched her turn her back on him and went straight to her room. He didn’t even bother calling her to clear things up.
That made Prince Yi Eul stare in the empty space when he recalled what happened and what he told her that night. “I…”
Secretary Jeong already knew what’s in the Crown Prince’s mind so he just nodded. “She may be your employee but she just thought about what’s best for you, Your Highness. I don’t know what happened but you need to talk to her and clear things up, Your Highness.”
Jae Kyung couldn’t help but sigh after she sent the tray filled with cookies and a cup of coffee she made—or more like he demanded her to make those—for the Crown Prince in his study room. She didn’t know why she’s in a foul mood since last time. She didn’t know if she’s frustrated that she turned down such a good opportunity or she felt bad when Prince Yi Eul told her those words.
“What’s with it to you? My personal businesses don’t concern you. You may be my fake wife but you’re not allowed to meddle in my personal issues. You’re just my employee. Don’t cross the f*****g line.”
Right, those words.
“Ugh, don’t let those words affect you, Jae Kyung. It’s not really your concern if he’ll do something stupid. Your job is just to assist him and not to think about what he’ll gonna do or not. It’s not like he’s a kid anymore.”
But he’s acting like one.
She sighed once again. She’s too tired to go out of her room nor out of the house but she had to since she needed to go to her private class since she’s now the Crown Princess.
Just bear with it, Kim Jae Kyung. It’s four months left and everything will be back to normal.
As soon as she went inside of her room to change her clothes, she saw Prince Yi Eul holding an open cup of strawberry milkshake and he looked so shocked when he saw her. Her eyes fixed on her laptop which was drained with liquid which she suspected as the strawberry milkshake that the Crown Prince was holding.
“I—”
“What the f**k?!” she hollered as the angry slowly invaded her system. “What the f**k did you just do?!”
