예순 아홉번째 왕관 (69)
“Yi Eul-ah, Yi Eul-ah, ireona~ wake up now. You’ll be late.”
“Eomma?”
“Yi Eul-ah, please wake up now.”
“Eomma? Is that you?”
“Yi Eul-ah.”
“Yi Eul-ah.”
“Jeonha, jeonha.”
"SEJA-JEONHA!!!"
Prince Yi Eul’s eyes slowly opened and he immediately saw a white ceiling in front of him. He winced when he finally felt the pain from his wounds and he suspected that some of those were the gunshots he got that got stitched.
From the smell and the solemnness of the room, he could really tell that he’s in the hospital.
“Ugh…” he slowly sat up while holding his injury on the side of his torso and winced as he felt his right shoulder stinging. “How many hours did I fell asleep?”
His eyes settled on the door when it suddenly opened. From there, he saw Jae Kyung who’s now wearing his overcoat (which he bet that Secretary Jeong gave to her) and she’s also wearing jeans and a white t-shirt underneath.
His eyes slightly squinted and he frowned.
“Jeonha!” Jae Kyung called him. She immediately went towards him and checked him as well. She just checked him but she didn’t touch him because she’s scared that she might touch his injury and it’ll be painful for him. Secretary Jeong was about to call the doctor as soon as they saw Prince Yi Eul awake but the Crown Prince raised his hand to stop him, making the old secretary bow in response. “Jeonha, are you hurting somewhere? Are you okay? What do you feel right now? We should call the doctor to check you up again.”
“My whole body is just stinging because of the wounds but I’m okay. You don’t need to worry,” Prince Yi Eul responded.
Jae Kyung sighed. “Thank God. Thank God you’re okay. You didn’t wake up for the past 12 hours so I really thought there’s something wrong…”
“Am I?” he muttered.
Guess I was that tired, huh?
He stared at Jae Kyung who was wiping her sweaty forehead and she was quite shaking as well. She even looked pale for him.
He looked at both Do Wan and Secretary Jeong who was just standing at the door. Do Wan was really attentive when Prince Yi Eul stared at him.
“Do Wan,” he muttered.
“On it, Your Highness,” he bowed and went out of the private ward. Secretary Jeong bowed at the Crown Prince as well before he followed Do Wan outside.
Jae Kyung noticed that the two already went out. “Uh, I must take my leave as well so you can take a rest, Your Highness.”
“No. You stay,” he said, tilting his head and signaling her to sit on the chair beside the hospital bed.
“O-Okay…” she nodded and cautiously sat on the empty chair while the Crown Prince was observing her. “About what happened earlier, I convinced Secretary Jeong not to tell Her Majesty because I know you don’t want her to know anything and get worried. He actually agreed so you don’t need to worry about it. Your bodyguards dealt with what happened to your house and Secretary Jeong contacted repairmen and stuff right away to fix everything in the house. And—”
Prince Yi Eul slowly outstretched his hand to reach Jae Kyung’s face and he gently touched her right cheek with a band-aid patch on it. He even saw the fresh cut on her lips. “Did that guy hurt you?”
“Eh? Umm, he actually slapped me because I shot him on the torso using your gun. He got mad because I injured him but you don’t need to worry because I’m okay,” Jae Kyung told him as she grinned at him but she winced because the cut on her lip stung. "Aw, it hurts."
“You’re such a hard-head. I told you to stay in the car for you to be safe but your sassy ass followed me inside. You could’ve been in harm or even died,” he scolded her.
“Geunyang museowoseo… I was just scared that you’ll not gonna come back safe to us, to me so I tried my best to save you,” Jae Kyung said. Her lower lip started to tremble and she couldn’t help but tear up. “But instead… I burdened you. I know if I wasn’t there, you wouldn’t get injured. Because of me, you got shot. I’m so sorry, Your Highness. I should’ve followed what you told me too. But I just couldn’t help it. I was just so worried.”
“Jae Kyung.”
She looked at him as she tried to wipe her tears and sniff her snot away.
“Stand up.”
Hesitant, Jae Kyung stood up.
“Come closer.”
She slowly went close to him.
“Closer.”
She slowly moved closer to him that she already felt the side of his bed on her lap and she could see Prince Yi Eul looking up at her.
Suddenly, the Crown Prince pulled her to sit on the bed and pulled her for a hug. Her eyes widen, she even gasped in surprise that her hands were in the air awkwardly.
“You did well back there, Jae Kyung-ah…” Prince Yi Eul whispered to her.
That made Jae Kyung hugged him back and burst into tears on her shoulder.
“I know how scared you are to even hold the gun but you still managed to do just to protect me,” she could feel him caressing the back of her head. “You did great back there, you were so brave, Jae Kyung-ah.”
Jae Kyung closed her eyes and let her tears flow down her cheeks. It’s embarrassing that she actually soaked the shoulder part of Prince Yi Eul’s hospital gown but she didn’t care anymore.
She was happy. She was happy that she managed to protect someone.
I’m finally able to protect someone important to me without hesitating.
Are you proud of me up there, Eomma?
Prince Yi Eul gently pushed Jae Kyung from the hug and looked at her face. He gently caressed her both cheeks then under her eyes to wipe her tears away. “You’re so ugly when you cry.”
That actually made Jae Kyung coil herself behind her arms. “I know but stop teasing me today. Let me take a break and I’ll deal with your antics later.”
Prince Yi Eul gently put her arms down and cupped her cheeks and caressed her cheeks again. They both stared at each other’s eyes, savoring the silence around them.
Without a word, Prince Yi Eul leaned into her face to give her a chaste kiss on the lips. Simultaneously kissing her lips then pulled out and then gave her another gentle smooch on the lips before he proceeded to give her a deep kiss.
One thing that Jae Kyung realized at that moment is…
It wasn’t confusion. Everything that she felt when she’s with the Crown Prince is not some sort of mere trouble, bother, or confusion.
She likes the Crown Prince. She already likes him and took a while for her to realize it.
She already likes him… and it’s scary.
왜냐하면 그녀가 그것을 깨달은 순간, 만약 그녀가 그에게 그녀가 느꼈던 것을 말할 용기가 있다면, 그녀는 이미 그의 편이 되어 버렸기 때문입니다.
Because the moment that she realized it, if she has the courage to tell him what she felt, she’s already gone on his side.
— Dealing Prince Arrogant, Chapter 55
From an empty, dark room. A mysterious man was tied up. He had a blindfold on his eyes and duct tape that covered his mouth.
He flinched when he heard the door opened. He didn’t even manage to feel who and how many who entered the room because someone already pulled the blindfold and the duct tape on his face.
The moment he finally adjusted his eyesight, he saw a familiar face in front of him.
He recognized that person.
“You… the Crown Prince’s dog.”
Do Wan stared at him blankly. “Who sent you?”
The man chuckled bitterly at him. “I’m not going to say a word.”
Without hesitation, Do Wan pointed his gun at the man’s forehead. “I may be a patient person but the Crown Prince doesn’t have so much patience in his hand so it’s either you’ll tell us and keep living or just die without anyone knowing that you died and get buried nameless,” he clicked the gun’s hammer. “So, tell me. Who sent you?”
