Chapter LXII

육십 이번째 왕관 (62)       “Is that boy a human?!” Hotaru asked worriedly at Gin when she saw that Gin’s hand was glowing like the firefly’s light and slowly fading. Gin looked at her. As he slowly lit up and his body started to fade, he opened his arms with and with a smile, he spoke. “Come here, Hotaru. I can finally touch you.” She still saw him glowing in bright white and green lights. Without hesitation, she took off the mask that Gin let her wear, and with a smile on her face, she ran towards Gin and hugged him. Hugging him… savoring his warmth and his scent as the light from him embraced her being. The hug went seconds when Gin slowly fades into thin air with those bright lights around them and what left Hotaru was his kimono. She fell to the ground while hugging his clothes. Burying her face onto his clothes, she sobbed. Sobbed her aching heart out. Gin is gone… the light took him from her.   Prince Yi Eul turned his head at Jae Kyung who is now a sobbing mess—with her hair fixed in a messy bun, wearing an oversized hoody with some sort of anime art that she purchased in an online shop last week (which she actually told him that it’s actually her anime husbando Gojo Satorou from Jujutsu Kaisen which he didn’t actually comprehend why she kept on claiming a fictional character as her husband or something. Kind of weird, in his perspective. "I am her husband already, why is she claiming a fictional character as her husband?), and on her baggy sweatpants there were wet tissues everywhere, her eyes were puffy as well as her nose was red. They don’t have any appointments so Prince Yi Eul got pulled by his otaku of a fake wife to binge watch some anime. He found it boring at first but as they watch more than one show, he actually found it fun. Not until she let them watch this anime Hotarubi no Mori e or whatever the name that he didn’t bother to memorize. And now, she’s already a sobbing mess. “I told you to stop binge-watching stuff like this. Look at you, you’re now a crying mess,” Prince Yi Eul rolled his eyes when he told her about it. He was in his white polo and black slacks casually sitting one arm away from Jae Kyung because yeah, the girl’s surrounding was a total mess—with all the wet tissues and all. “If only…” she muttered between her sobs. “If only Gin didn’t help that child or he didn’t hold that child, he will not disappear. He will still be with Hotaru. He’s already gone… Hotaru is hurting. It hurts…” Prince Yi Eul looked at her silently. Seems like Jae Kyung didn’t care whether the Crown Prince was staring at her, judging her, or whatever as she kept on bawling her eyes out, crying mess. Prince Yi Eul looked at the screen once again, seeing the female character crying while hugging the male character’s clothes. “Even if he’s still alive… he knows that he couldn’t be with her.” Jae Kyung looked at him, glaring. “Why are you saying that?!” “Haven’t you heard what he told Hotaru?” Prince Yi Eul asked, looking at Jae Kyung who’s now hiccupping. “He’s a past human who got adopted by some mythical creature or some ghost in the forest which made him as a forest spirit who actually watched Hotaru grows up during summer. Even if he wanted to be with Hotaru, he knows he couldn’t. She’s a human, he’s not. He knows that everything that will happen is fated to happen so in his last moments, all he ever wanted was to hug the person he loves. He wanted Hotaru to feel that whether he’s not with her anymore, she could still feel his presence, guiding and watching her. That’s what love between them is all about. It doesn’t matter if the person is with you or not. As long as he or she thought about you and only you, that’s all that matters.” Jae Kyung went silent on that and her eyes settled on the female character who’s now walking out of the forest while hugging Gin, the male character’s mask. She smiled as she saw how the fireflies were just around her, as if watching over her. Jae Kyung couldn’t help but sob. “I told you, stop crying.” “I’m crying for Hotaru, you know? Just let me because it hurts losing someone that you love,” Jae Kyung said between her sobs. “Aish, you’re such a bothersome,” Jae Kyung gasped when Prince Yi Eul suddenly pulled her for a hug. She, then, felt that he’s already patting her back. “There, there. Now, stop crying already.” She had the urge to push him away but she couldn’t. It’s weird that somehow, she felt comforted and secured with this arrogant prince’s embrace. It’s weird, she knew it was. And somehow, she felt her heart beating fast as she heard Prince Yi Eul’s steady heartbeat. Damn, this is so weird. But somehow, she’ll be going to admit she actually wanted to savor this moment until it lasts. Just like how Gin and Hotaru savored their embrace to each other. “Not bad,” Prince Yi Eul commented as the film ended, scrolling the credits he didn’t bother to read. “It’s not that bad to kill time—” he paused when he saw Jae Kyung sleeping in his arms like a baby. He couldn’t help but sigh. “Haah, this lazy bum, tiring herself out because of crying too much.” He slowly raised his hand when he noticed the stray hairs on her face but he stopped midway and sighed. “Can you just stop letting me carry you when you fell asleep on places? You’re seriously heavy, you lazy bum.”     “To be real honest, I just want to stay at home. I’m starting to get tired of acquainting to high-profiled people, you know?” Jae Kyung sighed as she fixed the broach on her collar and sighed, staring at her face in the mirror. “Haaaaaaah~ I’m so tired already~” She was about to fix her hair when she heard a notification bell from her laptop. Just let her hair down, she walked towards her laptop and read her notification. “An e-mail?” Without thinking twice, she opened the said e-mail and as soon as she opened it, her eyes widen in astonishment.   To: snow.moon_1994@gmail.com From: dreamhwapublishing@gmail.com   Greetings Snow Moon-ssi My name is Byun Jin Seok, one of the editors of Dream Hwa Publishing.
