예순 일곱번째 왕관 (67)
“This is harder than I thought. I really thought it’s really easy.”
“You’re almost there. You just didn’t have the right position and you didn’t know the right way and timing to aim the arrow,” Prince Yi Eul told her. He grabbed the arrow that the servant was offering. He positioned himself on Jae Kyung’s back and held her both hands to position the arrow and the bow she’s holding. “Like this. You’ll do it like this.”
Jae Kyung couldn’t actually focus on what Prince Yi Eul was talking about nor teaching her all about because as soon as Prince Yi Eul held her, she felt a weird sensation inside her chest.
Without thinking, she turned her head only to find Prince Yi Eul’s face just a few inches away from her that she couldn’t help but silently gasped.
And there it is…
“There’s no way…” she subconsciously muttered in front of the Crown Prince.
Prince Yi Eul frowned at her. “What?”
“Uh, I think it’s enough. Oh! Right! It’s forty-five minutes already! I almost forgot! Hehehe. I actually had a lot of fun,” Jae Kyung said as she put the bow and arrow down and returned it to him. “I-I just go to the bathroom. I’ll play it with you next time. See you!”
“Hey, wait—what?”
Jae Kyung didn’t wait for the Crown Prince or anyone around them to say a word and she just stormed out of the archery ground.
“What happened to her?” he couldn’t help but mutter to himself.
“We actually have no idea, Jeonha,” Secretary Jeong responded.
“That confusing lazy bum.”
Jae Kyung didn’t actually know where she’s heading after she went out of the archery ground. The scene earlier still flashed in her mind that she couldn’t help but just shake her head to forget and avert her thoughts.
“We already kissed a couple of times for a show. We did more skinship and contacts like that, so it should be a really big deal. Goodness,” Jae Kyung muttered to herself as she kept on walking to the courtyard without any idea where she should actually go.
Gosh, I shouldn’t confuse myself with anything. What I felt about him is nothing. Yes, I should stick to that. That’s right. I should stick on that—
“Aaahhhh!!!” she tripped herself on something and almost felt that she’s going to fall on the ground but she actually felt that someone grabbed her arm and turned her towards that person and finally, they faced each other and made eye contact.
“You almost fell, Princess…”
Jae Kyung felt like she’s in a romance novel or a romance drama wherein she’s the main character who’s now staring lovingly at her leading man. It’s really like a movie. She felt that the time slowed down as the autumn leaves fell to the ground and they’re holding each other’s arms because yes, the autumn air was actually kind of chilly.
Chilly but the scene before her eyes actually warmed her heart.
This is it. This is her ideal romantic scene.
“Are you okay, Princess?”
“Yes…” Jae Kyung muttered, nodding. “I am okay, Your Highness. Thank you for saving me.”
Prince Yi Ryeo smiled at her and if she could put his smile into words, she’s certain that the sun will be jobless for Prince Yi Ryeo’s smile is brighter than the sun.
Ah, it’s cringy to say but that’s true.
“I’m glad that I saved you on time.”
Jae Kyung couldn’t help but blush and smile. Prince Yi Ryeo’s smile is indeed contagious. That’s how bright he is.
One thing that I’m sure, is I have a big fat crush on Prince Yi Ryeo.
Prince Yi Ryeo gently let go of her. “Why are you in a hurry?”
“Ah, I was actually going home since I already finished watching His Royal Highness’s archery session,” Jae Kyung responded. “And you, what are you doing here? Do you also have an archery session?”
“Ah, no. I just finished mine earlier. I was just running some errands that gongju-mama asked me to do,” he said. “And we actually have different archery ground. His Royal Highness archery ground is just exclusive for him so we barely see each other.”
“Oh~ I see. I see,” she nodded, as if she acquired new knowledge that moment.
“Are you really going home now? We could actually have coffee together. I’ll brew you one,” Prince Yi Ryeo offered as he grinned at her.
Oh my gosh, I actually want to. I really want to but…
“It’s actually nice and I want to accept the offer but I am also running some errands as well and I also have an appointment to attend so I couldn’t actually have a coffee with you. Maybe next time, we could actually have one,” Jae Kyung told him.
It’s a wasted opportunity! Huhuhu, damn you, you phony Crown Prince.
“Next time? So you mean, we could have time with each other next time?”
She was quite confused and she was about to answer him when she heard a familiar voice.
“Yeobo.”
Jae Kyung turned her head towards Prince Yi Eul who was now staring at him blankly.
Ugh, he’s always appearing in ungodly moments and loves to ruin my perfect romantic scene. And he said the code. Such a bother. Time to be an actress again.
“Oh, yeobo! Have you finished your archery session? I was about to go home but I bumped with Prince Yi Ryeo so we talked for a bit,” Jae Kyung told him as he walked towards them.
“Oh, I see,” Prince Yi Eul responded and he offered his arm at her. She actually got it and she clung to his arms (she is internally praying that they will not see how reluctant she is to do so). “Fancy meeting you here, Your Highness. Did you attend your archery session too?”
Prince Yi Ryeo bowed at him before he responded. “Fancy meeting you here too, Jeonha. I just finished mine earlier. I was just running some errands that gongju-mama asked me to do.”
“Oh, I see. Please do send my regards to gongju-mama.”
“I will, Jeonha. I’m sure she’ll be happy to hear that.”
“Well, then. We must be going. We actually need to attend our appointment today so we won’t be able to chat with you longer.”
“It’s okay, Jeonha. We could actually do it next time,” Prince Yi Ryeo’s eyes settled on Jae Kyung and smiled at her. She also nodded and smiled back at him.
“Certainly. Well then, we must be going,” they bowed at each other and Prince Yi Eul and Jae Kyung left him as they walk towards their car and went inside.
From his smiling face, Prince Yi Ryeo’s expression changed into a blank and cold one.
“He’s such an eyesore.”
“You actually love to ruin the mood,” Jae Kyung couldn’t help but say her thoughts. They’re currently inside the car and Prince Yi Eul was actually planning to go to his old house in Gangnam (the ones that he actually stayed during his first week in Seoul).
“What? Are you upset that you didn’t get some alone time with Prince Yi Ryeo?” Prince Yi Eul asked.
Jae Kyung’s mouth was agape. She was caught off guard by how straightforward Prince Yi Eul was. But of course, she wouldn’t tell him that. “Excuse you? It’s not, you know? You actually made him sad. He actually wanted to talk to us but you did that to him.”
“Excuse you too, Kim Jae Kyung. You’re actually the one who rejected his offer to you that you’ll gonna have coffee with him.”
That actually made Jae Kyung quite surprise. “Wait, did you hear our conversation?”
“Half of it actually.”
“Such a gossip boy.”
“I have ears and eyes, Kim Jae Kyung.”
“And so a gossip boy.”
“Stop calling me lame names.”
The car stop and the bodyguards immediately opened the car’s doors for them. Jae Kyung was the first one to come out.
“What are doing here again—?” before Jae Kyung could even walk ahead, Prince Yi Eul suddenly pulled her for a hug which made her gasp in shock. She was about to push him and ask if what’s wrong when she heard a ‘bang!’ and in a nanosecond, the bodyguards surrounded them and some of them even running in the directions that she didn’t know anymore with guns in their hands with Do Wan actually leading them.
Jae Kyung slowly looked up at Prince Yi Eul who’s now holding a gold and white revolver gun aiming at somewhere.
“So they actually went ahead of us, huh?” he muttered.
“What—”
“Somebody’s going to assassinate us and they’re now inside the house.”
