WHEN I WOKE UP every bone in me ached and my clothes were drenched in sweat. The back of my neck was so sore, that I couldn't move, so I just sat there and stared at the roof of my bedroom. I'm guessing grandmother carried me to bed, and she sure as well had a very difficult time doing so because she didn't even get my body in a comfortable position. I'm a very light sleeper, so staying in the position I fell asleep in wasn't any problem. Five minutes had gone, and I still haven't forgotten my dream, which happens most of the time. Why did I faint in the first place? I felt good. I was in good health. It just happened so sudden. The dream felt so real, too. My bedroom door opened and grandmum peeked her head in, "Oh thank goodness, you're awake. I brought lemon tea." She pushed the door open with her hip and held a wooden tray with lemon tea and cookies, "You were out for quite a minute." A groan escaped my lips as I lifted myself up and I gave a weak smile, "Thanks." Grandmum placed the tray on my side table and sat at the side of my bed before smiling. I raised an eyebrow, "What?" She chuckled, "The older you get, the more you look like your father." "Nope. I look like myself. Now you made me feel like a man with some huge beard."  She laughed. Grandmum waited till I had finished my lemon tea to ask, "How are you feeling? You had quite a fall and a hit on the head out there. What was wrong?" I shrugged, feeling my neck stretch a little and swallowed a piece of cookie I had bitten into, "The walls felt as if they were closing in and then I just collapsed. By the way, I had this weird dream." Grandmum raised an eyebrow and placed her hands in her lap, "What dream?" "The wolves were talking, and you were dying and so much confusion happened, I didn't know what to do." I swallowed the lump in my throat and quickly took a bite of the cookie I was eating to keep my composure." "Do you remember the details?" Her eyes shown a great sight of interest but if I hadn't been studying them, I would've never noticed the slight wickedness underneath. ━━━ Nevertheless, I still told her about my dream. She was my grandmother after all.  I had come to a conclusion while laying in my bed after grandmum had left to wash up, that it was probably just side effects of the medication she was taking. My legs finally grabbed the strength and lifted me up off of the bed then I made my way to the bathroom. Looking at the mirror, I noticed I had very dark circles under my eyes, two rips in my pants, my cheeks were covered in dirt and I had two scratches on my forehead that I didn't have before. My mouth dropped opened and my eyes widened, "Grandmum?!" I shouted, "Ma?!" I hollered again when I didn't hear a response. A few seconds later, grandmum came waddling into the bathroom, "Yes?" I pointed to my face and made a 'duh' face and I swore I saw grandmum smile for a split second before she covered it up with a cough, "It's just a few scratches, dear." "Where did the dirt come from?" I asked her, leaning over the sink to get a better look at myself in the mirror, "I didn't go anywhere?" "You were outside the whole night, and you didn't even shower when you came home. Of course, you would see such things on your face." Grandmum said and I saw her reflection shrug from behind me. "So why didn't you tell me I looked like this?" I grumbled and straightened up, "Please exit the bathroom so I can clean myself up." She lazily walked out of the bathroom and I shut the door behind her before hitting the wall. The more I stay at home, the crazier it gets. And I don't understand what was even going on in my own life. Grandmum wasn't even acting like grandmum, not that I can blame her. She's taking such medication. I watched my reflection in the mirror as I stripped and noticed fresh scratches on my legs and my stomach. Okay, now that can't be from going outside last night. Where did these come from? "Grandmum? GRANDMUM?" I shouted again but no one replied. I grabbed my towel and I covered myself before exiting the bathroom. "Grandmum?" I said again a little softer. Grandmum wasn't in the kitchen or the reading room, so I walked to her bedroom but she wasn't there. "Grandmum, I have-" I began to shout but then I stopped dead in my tracks. I felt a strong presence behind me that wasn't cozy. I swiftly turned around to find nothing. "Grandmum?" I said aloud again, but grandmum wasn't anywhere. I sighed loudly, as I started to not care anymore and dragged my legs back to the bathroom. "Whatever." I took off my towel and went into the bath, hissing softly as the water hit the scratches. If my grandmother won't help me, I have to start helping myself and stop waiting on my grandmother's permission. I have to find out what was going on here that I'm so oblivious to. I felt my blood boil up despite me being in the cold water, I was determined. And this time, now that I know how to manoeuver around the woods, I'm ready.  I'm ready to learn about my life that I was so sheltered in. I want to know the truth.  Why I have this hair.  Why I have these connections to the wolves. Who the Irish are. Why I had this dream, or vision, whatever it was. I'm still trying to figure it out.  I want to find out more about the people who gave birth to me and why grandmother is acting so differently. And that's what I'm going to do... right after I find out where grandmum is. 1032 words
