Chapter 10: Aunt Flow Visits

738 Words
As she quickly thought of the word “brother-in-law,” she hesitantly uttered, “Hu… husband?” Her uncertain tone barely hid her unease, and the slight arch in Yan Chenye’s brow betrayed a flicker of dissatisfaction. This woman has no sense of what it means to be someone’s wife. Initially, he had planned to be considerate, recognizing how tired she must be, and had restrained his desire, intending only to hold her as she rested. But her lack of awareness, her hesitation, and the tone she used left him feeling uncharacteristically irked. Tonight, he resolved, she would understand the true nature of their relationship. Because of the shortness of her nightgown, the hem had ridden up above her waist, leaving her feeling barely protected by the covers as she lay next to him. Even under the soft, shadowed lighting, his intense presence seemed even more overpowering. “Say it again,” he murmured, his tone unreadable, yet leaving no room for refusal. Taking a deep breath, she opened her mouth and whispered softly, “Husband.” Her voice, gentle and delicate, sounded more sincere this time. Yan Chenye turned, leaning half his body over hers. Instinctively, she placed her hands against his chest, trying to sit up, but quickly retracted them as she realized how tense she was behaving. Pulling her hands back under the covers, she clenched the bedsheet tightly. As he drew closer, the heat of his breath brushed against her face, and it became abundantly clear to Ye Weixi what he intended next. His warm lips hovered just above her own, close enough for her to feel his breath. And just then, bracing herself, she stammered, “Um… I… my period started…” Ye Weixi, unaccustomed to lying, could feel her face warming with embarrassment. Yan Chenye’s lips hovered above hers as he raised his eyes to meet hers. His brow furrowed slightly, “Your period?” She nodded earnestly, hoping he wouldn’t pursue the topic further. Seemingly unfazed, he replied, “And this affects our wedding night how, exactly?” Caught off guard, Ye Weixi forced a sweet smile. “It means… it’s that time of the month, you know?” Yan Chenye nearly laughed but held onto his usual air of control. With a glint of mischief in his gaze, he leaned close, his voice dark and alluring, “I think I’d better check.” Before she could react, his long fingers began to slide, his touch deliberate and exploratory. After a moment, he raised his hand before her eyes and asked, “Shall I turn on the light so you can confirm?” Face flushed, Ye Weixi felt her skin prickling with heat. This man, with his utter lack of propriety! She shot him a sharp look, silently protesting his offer. “Oh, you’re right, the lighting is dim. Let’s turn it on so you can see more clearly,” he teased. This latest round of taunting nearly brought her to tears. She felt truly at a loss, her mind reeling. Seeing no other choice, she wrapped her delicate arms around his neck and whispered tearfully, “Husband, I… I didn’t mean to deceive you. I just… I’m afraid it might hurt…” A single tear slipped down her cheek, her eyes glistening as she pouted slightly, hoping to soften his heart. Yan Chenye’s gaze lingered on her trembling lips and dewy eyes, an irresistible vulnerability in her plea that stirred something in him. He watched her intently, his expression warming even as he fought to keep his composure. Sensing his resolve weakening, Ye Weixi felt a sliver of hope, but in the next moment, his eyes blazed with renewed fervor. “Don’t worry,” he murmured. “I’ll be gentle.” Her hope shattered, but before she could protest further, Yan Chenye lowered his head, pressing tender kisses to her tear-stained cheeks. His lips brushed her ear, and he whispered, “Darling…” A shiver ran through her, her pulse quickening as her body responded involuntarily. Her thoughts became hazy, swept away in sensations she had never known, struggling to maintain control, her soft sighs betraying her efforts. With a satisfied smirk, Yan Chenye captured her lips again, sealing her quiet sounds within the warmth of his mouth. The night was only beginning, and as he reminded himself, this was their wedding night—a night not to be wasted.
