Her Night

“Babe! Babe! Michael!”, Quinn jumped from the bed, breathing heavily. She was sweating despite the fact that the air conditioner was on. “Is everything okay?”, Michael held her close to him as he wrapped his arms around her shoulders. “I had a bad dream that’s all”, Quinn shook her head. She was very scared. She always acted like a baby whenever she was around him. He enjoyed it. “It’s gonna be alright my love”, he kissed her forehead gently and placed her head on his chest. “Try to sleep, okay?”, he stroked her chin softly while he used his other hand to pin her close to him. “Can I get a glass of water please?”, she looked at him. “I’ll get it for you”, he stood up from the bed and put a pillow under her head so she would feel very comfortable. He picked up the air conditioner remote control and turned it up a little. He dropped it and walked out of the room. He walked past Charlotte’s room and heard her voice. He opened the door slowly and saw her sitting on the floor crying. “Go away”, she sniffed and turned her face the other way. He closed the door and went downstairs. “Ughhhhh”, he covered his face with his hands. He walked into the kitchen and turned on the tap and washed his face. He felt very ashamed. What had he done to her? She had already gone into depression. He took a glass cup and went to the water dispenser and filled it with warm water. He closed the kitchen door and walked upstairs slowly. He was tired and sad from remembering how monstrous he acted towards Charlotte. He didn’t realize it had gotten to this extent. “She’ll never forgive me”, he said as he continued to walk up the stairs. “Here, sit up dear”, he passed her the glass of water. He watched her drink it to half. She handed it back to him and he kept it on the small table beside the bed. “You look worried, Is everything okay?”, she noticed his mood had changed, “Talk to me babe”, she insisted as she held his hand. “I’m fine”, he withdrew his hand slowly, picked up his phone and sat beside her. “Michael I am your girlfriend, if there’s anything bothering you, I have the right to know”, She put her arms around him and faced him. He looked into her eyes. She had these set of wonderful eyes. He cupped her face and kissed her. He drew back and watched her beautiful face. She wanted more but she wasn’t willing to give too. He stared at her before kissing her neck twice. “Go to bed my love, it’s 4am now”. “I’m not feeling sleepy anymore”, she shrugged. “Come on, you know you came home late last night. You need to rest darling”, he looked very handsome when he gave instructions. With his jawline and nose, with his neatly carved beard. Damn he was perfect. She couldn’t resist the urge to kiss this man again. “Please”, Michael begged. “Fine. I’ll sleep, only because you asked me too”, Quinn laid on the bed and shut her eyes. Few moments later, she was fast asleep. She looked very pretty when she slept like a hungry tiger. Michael just sat on the bed thinking about Charlotte. He never realized he had been hurting her all these years. It was very painful to think about. He wasn’t and had never been kind to her ever since she stepped her foot into his house. “I didn’t do anything Mrs. Devi. I just said hi to him and he poured his juice on me”, he remembered the exact words she used to report him to his mom when he first hated her. He just didn’t like her for no reason, and Charlotte, being a good girl, had never actually done anything to him to deserve such hatred. He sighed heavily at the feeling. He remembered when he had told Quinn to stop being nice to her if not he would break up with her. He turned to look at Quinn. Was he even going to marry her? He really likes her but she doesn’t give him all he needs as a man. He stood up and walked around the room for a while. “Maybe I should see her first and apologize again”, he said to himself quietly. He sighed as he slowly walked to the door and went out. He didn't know what to do at the time he got to her door. He went downstairs to get her a glass of water. He got to her room again and knocked on the door. "Mrs. Devi?", she answered. He opened the door slowly and stood there as he looked at her. She laid on the floor lifelessly. "It's Michael", he said as he walked in and closed the door behind him. "If you want to shout at me and beat me or tell me you hate me with your life again, then you can go ahead. I'm all ears", she said as she looked at him. Michael was speechless. Was that really all she knew him for? That’s terrible. “Stand up Charlotte”, he said with a straight voice. She quickly obeyed his instruction. Mom might have told her not to take orders from him but this case was different. He was her son and he still deserved respect. She turned to face him. Michael walked slowly to her and handed her the glass of water. He nodded for her to drink it. When she was done, she dropped the cup on her little table and walked back to him. “You haven’t slept since yesterday”, he looked very concerned about it, although he was the cause. “Yes sir”, her legs were shaking and her head was down, she couldn’t look him in the eyes anymore. “Come here”, he walked to her as she came close to him. He brought her in for a warm hug. Damn! She smelled nice. The fragrance of her hair was amazing. He wondered if it was how her hair shampoo usually smelled like or if her hair was naturally like this. He smiled. This was the first time he was close to her. He relished the moment and enjoyed every single bit of it.
