Lil Charlotte

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “I don’t understand why he looked very familiar”, Charlotte thought.She couldn't think straight. She groaned in pain as she had some flashbacks of her early years. Little Charlotte had just came back from school, her friend Dorathy, forgot her notebook in the classroom, so she went to her friend’s house to give her the notebook. She knocked on the door but no response. Out of curiosity, she opened the door and went in. “Oops!”, she said when she saw Mr. Raymond sleeping with her friend’s mom. "I'm so sorry sir, I just wanted to return the notebook to Dorathy... I'm sorry", she started running out of the house while he chased her. ”Leave me alone, let me go”, little Charlotte screamed. As Mr. Raymond dragged her hand. “I’ll make sure I have you killed, I can’t risk you going out there blabbing what you saw”, he covered her mouth. Little Charlotte hit him with her elbow in between his legs and ran away. He chased her but he couldn’t find her. She was hiding in under an abandoned truck where he wouldn't be able to find her. She gasped and breathed heavily. “I knew he looked familiar ”, she said to herself as she went to wash her face with cold water. She shivered at the feeling of the cold water. She sat on the little cushion beside her wardrobe for a while and stared at nothing. She wasn't herself right now. She hated remembering that incident. “Hey... I need orange juice, my girlfriend’s not around to make it for me, so just give me the one that mom made, it’s in the refrigerator”, Michael said as he barged into her room. “You could've knocked at least”, she gave a slight nod and left for the kitchen. “I hope you're not taking to me like that”, he said from behind watching her hurry past him. “Hey Charlotte, what's going on?”, Mrs. Devi asked coming out from her room on seeing Charlotte running down the stairs. “Nothing Mrs. Devi ”, she stopped and continued going. “You need her to do something for you?”, Michael asked with his hands in his pocket. He was used to putting his hands in his pocket each time he stood and had nothing doing. “What did you ask her to do for you?”, Mrs. Devi folded her hands just below her chest. She looked very serious at him. She had her glasses on which made her look even more serious. “I just felt like drinking some orange juice”, he turned to face her. “I thought you didn’t like mine”, mom said. ”I know, Quinn went for her friend’s birthday party and it’s being held at Royal Place hotel. It’s a far place and I don’t know when she’ll be back, so I have to take yours”, he grinned. “Oh... oh... oh”, mom chuckled loudly, “So why didn’t you go get them yourself?”. “Uhh Charlotte here is our maid”, he said pointing to Charlotte who was just arriving with a jug of orange juice and a glass cup. “Point of correction son, Charlotte works for me not you or your girlfriend Quinn”, mom spoke angrily. “Isn’t that the same thing?”, Michael grabbed the juice and the glass cup from Charlotte. “Charlotte!”, Mrs. Devi called out. “Yes ma’am”, Charlotte turned to her. “From now on, you only take orders from me. Do you understand?”, She raised her voice. “Yes ma’am”, Charlotte replied. “If my son or his girlfriend has something they want, let them do it themselves”, Mrs. Devi continued. Charlotte nodded at the instruction. “That's not fair mom, we all need assistance in this house”, Michael groaned and sighed, “She’s here to help out, so let her do her job”. “I’ve just spoken my mind. Charlotte come with me”, Mrs. Devi walked to her room, while Charlotte followed her. They walked into Mrs. Devi’s room. She offered Charlotte a seat on the bed. The room was beautiful, it had this vanilla fragrance and Charlotte loved it. She rarely got a chance to be in her room. Her eyes roamed the room as usual, she could see the dressing room, the make up table and her jewelry section. It was all arranged properly. “If you ever remember where you have seen that man from this morning, Mr. Raymond aside today, I’m happy to hear”, Mrs. Devi sat on the well furnished bed beside Quinn. She was barely comfortable remembering what happened all those years ago and now, she was expected to explain what had transpired between them. It wasn't an easy task.
