Chapter Two; Tears, Blood, and Sweat

1075 Words
Tears! They all drop down Anna's chin like waterfalls. She was struggling to breathe, yet Dennis seemed to care less about her. He wasn't bothered if she died in the process. Despite her cry for help, he kept staring at Anna as though she never mattered to him. Where he was, he thought of more punishment to inflict on Anna. He wasn't done. Oh, no. He was never satisfied. He wants Anna to suffer dearly for breaking his heart and betraying him. “Please, save me. I am going to die,” Anna begged, her voice slowly fading away. She could barely recognize Dennis, who was standing right in front of her. It's more like the world stopped existing for a second. As much as she wants to curse Chloe for the rest of her life, Anna still blames herself for letting this happen. She wishes she had listened to her mother when she spoke about the danger of visiting Chloe, especially after their big fight at the wedding. Sadly, Anna thought she was being careful enough by telling her mother her whereabouts should anything go wrong. Now she's been stung by the bee she tried so much to avoid. “You need my help?” Dennis scoffed. It took him a lot of time to speak up. He wasn't sure what to do with Anna anymore. If it weren't for the law, he would have tortured Anna to the point of death. The sight of Anna irritates him. He'd do anything to ensure he doesn't set eyes on her for the rest of his life. “Yes, please,” Anna's tone trails off like the evening sun. She could barely speak properly. It was as though her vocal cords had been damaged already. She kept crawling on the ground, trying to touch Dennis's feet to assist her in getting up from the ground. “Don't you dare lay your filthy hands on me,” Dennis kicked Anna in the stomach angrily after shoving her aside. For every minute that goes by, he keeps showing Anna that the marriage was a fluke that was never meant to happen. “I hate you. Argh!” Dennis screamed out of his lungs as he smashed a bottle of tequila on the wall after taking a shot. He wasn't a chronic drunk. Unfortunately, the situation has messed up his head to the point where he feels the only solution is a shot of liquor. His scream caught the attention of Sophie and the other domestic staff at the various duty posts. Maria was the first to hear the shout from Dennis. Immediately, she dashed to the kitchen to meet Sophie. She ran so fast until she started breathing heavily. She needed to be sure if Sophie heard the same noise or if her ears were starting to lead her astray. “If you keep running like this, you're most likely to suffer a cardiac arrest really soon,” Sophie snapped as she held her chest in relief. She was startled by Maria's presence. It wasn't too long ago that she and Maria had a conversation. She could have sworn that Maria was at her duty post. “I'm sorry,” Maria apologized, trying to get her s**t together. The run is starting to affect her breath. She could barely construct a single sentence to save her life. It was as though she had a gun pointed at her head, telling her not to say a word. Regardless, she's determined to spill. “Did you hear that?” She asked, finally regaining herself again. “Heard what?” Sophie asked, as she rolled her eyes, trying to understand what Maria was talking about. It was obvious that she wasn't even paying attention to the noise from the living room. All she cared about was getting the dishes done like a proper maid. Nothing ever mattered to her aside from that. “Oh, no,” Maria exhaled. “I don't want to believe I'm hearing things that aren't real. Maria, wake up. You're not losing your mind,” Maria slapped her chin. She wants to convince herself that what she heard wasn't an illusion. “Is there a problem? I really need to focus on work if you have nothing to say,” Sophie frowns. A thousand times, she has warned Maria about early morning gossip talk. She has every reason to believe that it's precisely what Maria came for. Fortunately for Maria, she heard Dennis scream again. This time, it was louder and fiercer than the previous time. Not just Maria, Sophie heard the noise. Quickly, she asked, “Did you hear that? I think there's a fight in the living room.” “Finally,” Maria smiled. “I wasn't the only one. I thought I was losing my mind.”We need to go check what's happening,” Sophie panicked. She abandoned the dishes and wiped the water off her hands on her apron. “I thought you'd never ask. What took you so long?” Maria teased. Like the Avengers, they both marched to the living room. To their surprise, they saw Anna struggling on the ground in her pool of blood. She was decapitated, depleted, and nearly unconscious. Her chances of survival keep getting slim. The forceful lovemaking that was orchestrated by Chloe and the torture from Dennis both aligned to make Anna's life a living hell. The shocking part is that Dennis is seated at the mini bar, staring at Anna without doing anything. It appears that he's waiting for her to die before planning her funeral. He wasn't remorseful, nor was he touched by Anna's tears. Her pleas keep falling on deaf ears. To him, Anna was invisible. Anna lifted her head to behold Maria and Sophie. “Please help me.” She says, stretching her hands to them, ”Take me to the hospital. I'm hurting.”Maria and Sophie share a telling look, the type that sends a thousand messages to the universe. They were inclined to assist Anna, especially when Anna had been good to them in recent times. However, they have a stumbling block in Dennis. From what they've witnessed in the last few minutes they arrived in the living room, they aren't sure if Dennis will sit back and watch them assist Anna to get to the hospital. The same Anna he despises like a piece of s**t.
