Malibu was jolted to consciousness by a burning sensation on her face. Her mind was a jumbled mess. She tried to bring her hand to her head, but her arm wouldn’t move. Keeping her left eye clamped shut, she ventured to c***k open her right eye. Peering through her lashes, she saw a large white light beaming down on her. It was a floor lamp, but what was odd was that it was positioned so closely to her. Where was she? She cracked the other eye, tried to take in her surroundings, but the light was so intense she couldn’t process anything beyond it.
