They stood in front of the gate at Luciana’s home. The house seemed larger, elongate. It looked unnatural, as if viewed through a pinhole that distorted reality. It must be the moon, and the fog, which had crept in during the car ride and floated by in large and unwieldy swaths. This would make a spectacular movie shot; a point-of-view shot from Malibu’s perspective. The camera should be positioned low and angled up toward the home, soft focus, with a dolly zoom to distort the visual perception. So either the home itself didn’t look real, or Malibu’s ability to see things accurately had been warped. It would be left up to the audience to decide.
