Fifteen Tuesday, March 9, 4:43 A.M. CST Bailey’s Key Taffy awoke early, before twilight, and let out a long sigh as she surfaced to breathe. The moon peeked out from behind the clouds and the water phosphoresced. It was her time now before the sun rose and her work began. Taffy loved to swim in her enclosure with Eva after they finished their work for the day, but she also relished a swim by herself in the open ocean on quiet evenings or even quieter mornings. And besides, Taffy hadn’t even gotten her swim with Eva last night; Eva had left right after their work, going off with strange men on a wooden boat.
