“We’re running out of time. How much longer?” Eva asked. They were having problems with the sound equipment, which was causing a delay they couldn’t afford. Axel employed all his DJ sound skills working on the issue under the shade of the pavilion, but he’d not fixed it yet.
“Won’t be long now,” he said.
“You said that ten minutes ago.”
Axel shrugged, focusing on his work.
With a sigh, Eva said, “That’s it. I’m going for a swim.”
She couldn’t get any work done anyway. She took off her shorts and T-shirt, waded into the warm water beside Taffy, and stroked the dolphin’s back. Taffy really was gaining weight at an alarming rate now that she couldn’t leave the enclosure for her open-ocean swims.
