Twenty-Eight Tuesday, March 23, 6:43 P.M. CST Parrot Tree Resort At the tall stone fence at the entrance of Parrot Tree, the resort guard waved Thomas through. Compared to Eva’s crowded neighborhood, Parrot Tree now seemed like a wide-open nature refuge, a compound set apart from the rest of the island. Thomas enjoyed the feeling of Eva’s arms around him as he accelerated around the treed hills, and he had to repeatedly remind himself that this wasn’t a date. They parked the Vespa in a gravel lot and walked toward the Palapa, an open-air cabana sitting on the beach of a small lagoon.
