When it seemed clear that their hunt was done for the day, Eva proposed taking Thomas out to Bailey’s Key to check on Taffy—and show him what she’d accomplished in her research, hoping for an ally in getting her grant back. It was a long shot, but if they couldn’t prove Finn wasn’t the Lusca, Thomas had suggested that perhaps he could pull some strings at her university. To her surprise, she learned that Thomas still sat on the Delphi Force review board at DARPA, which oversaw her university grant.
Perhaps her mother was right about him, and he could be useful.
