Maya ~_< I don’t remember when I fell asleep. One second I was crying like a kid who scraped her knees, the next—I’m out. And when I open my eyes again, the room’s quiet. Dim. Calm. The morning light is already peeking through the window. Ryder’s still here. His arm’s slung lazily around my shoulder, his head tilted back against the couch. We’re tangled under the throw blanket like some kind of sweet indie movie couple. Except we’re not a couple. We can never be a couple. And this is real life. Still I slept. Next to him.
