“He said what?” Thomas exclaims, eyes wide. I quickly gesture for him to keep his voice down.
We’re sitting in the office cafeteria, tucked into one of the side booths where there’s at least a little privacy. The soft clatter of trays and low hum of conversation around us makes it easy to talk, just not too loudly.
I don’t want people ratting off my relationship with Ryder to Lila, might make them think it is the reason he came to my aide the last time.
