The Journey North

Cara set off before first light the next morning, she didn't wait to see her parents. She wasn't sure she could look them in the eye and not betray the doubt she felt. she had money, ID, clothes, weapons, and her car keys.  The drive took a few hrs, a few stops to rest and eat and reevaluate what she planned. At nightfall, about 30 mins drive away from the suspected border to the wolf territory she stopped and a small hotel and booked a room. She had taken Dad's laptop, intending to study the pictures again. But once she booed it up she had a thought, if there was anything mum and dad wanted to keep from her would never be kept in the library. They had encouraged her to spend any minute she was training in their reading. They would keep it here, where they never expected her to have access. Suddenly her phone rang and she jumped. It was mum's number, she had to answer. But she knew what was coming. " how you doing," said mum "do you happen to know where dad's laptop is? he looked for it tonight to email you and can't find it" Cara made her voice as casual as she could, "oh I borrowed it, I wanted to go over the pictures to make sure I knew who I was looking for and to see if anything in the backgrounds was familiar once I got here. I would have checked but yous were sleeping when I left and I figured my mission is so important you wouldn't mind. A laptop can be replaced right? " "oh well of course that makes sense" her mum sounded nervous Cara knew now she was right to take the laptop, she knew it had something she didn't know about on it. "well just remember there are still things you are too young to understand and as such I would stick to looking at the pictures and focus on your hunt. You don't want to overload yourself on history, after all, it's the present that matters" her mum chuckled in a forced high-pitched way. " Well, Im tired and want to get an early start tomorrow checking the area out, looking for any signs or weaknesses. I will update you tomorrow. Night" her mum said night and Cara disconnected the call. She quickly put the laptop to airplane mode to ensure it wouldn't connect to any networks. she wasn't sure if her dad could access it remotely but she wasn't taking the risk. Pulling her takeaway pizza box closer she started opening files to see what was being hidden from her.  After an hour or so of boring crap file after file, and a few files detailing hunts, kidnappings, and breeding experiments that were not in the history books in the she found a file labeled prophecy.  As she waitind for the file to open, she tried to picture what the Alpha King looked like, would he be hot like his warriors and Beta?  the file opened and she started reading, confised she reread. This was not what her parents had told her, this was infact the exact opposite of what they told her. She was destined to be the ultimate warrior, but to protect the Alpha King from the hunters. she was the hunters downfall.
