Caught Between Two Mafia Kings

The world was spinning. Pain burst through Lila's wrist, her shoulder, her side. The blanket tore further, leaving her skin exposed to jagged edges. She tried to scream but only a weak, broken sound came out. Then everything went still. Silence. Just the ringing in her ears and the taste of blood in her mouth. For a second, she thought she was dead. Everything hurt too much. Her body felt heavy, limp, like it wasn’t hers anymore. Damien cursed under his breath. He unbuckled himself and leaned over her. His fingers pressed against her neck, checking her pulse. “Breathe, princess. You’re alive. The truck barely clipped us.” Outside, car doors slammed. Heavy footsteps crunching on glass and gravel. Voices shouting orders. “Get my daughter out of there.!” Victor Voss’s voice sliced through the night, cold and furious. Lila’s eyes fluttered open. She saw her father’s silhouette in the headlights. Relief flooded her. Home. Safety. Away from the Devil who had chained her, touched her, made her body betray her. “Dad…” she whispered weakly. Her voice was hoarse, barely audible. Pain made every word hurt. Damien’s arm tightened around her. He pulled her closer against his chest, shielding her naked body with his own as much as he could with the torn blanket. “Stay still,” he muttered. Victor’s men moved closer, guns raised. One of them called out, “Miss Voss! We’re here. Come to us!” Lila tried to push herself up, but her sprained wrist gave out. She gasped in pain and collapsed back against Damien. Tears stung her eyes. “I want to go home,” she said, voice small and broken. “Please… let me go to my father.” Damien’s jaw clenched. He looked down at her; cuts on her face, blood on her arm, the blanket barely covering her breasts and hips. His hand brushed her hair back from her forehead, surprisingly gentle for a man who had killed tonight. “Not happening,” he said quietly. Victor stepped forward, face twisted with rage. “Moretti, if you’ve touched her, I will skin you alive. Lila, baby, come here. It’s over.” Lila reached one shaky hand toward the open door, toward her father. “Dad… I’m hurt. Take me home. Please.” Damien grabbed her hand and pulled it back gently but firmly. “You’re safer with me right now.” Gunshots rang out again. Damien shoved Lila down low in the wrecked car and returned fire. Bullets pinged off metal. Lila curled into a ball, whimpering every time pain shot through her wrist and side. She wasn’t brave or strong. She just wanted this nightmare to end. Damien killed another man who got too close. The body hit the ground with a thud. Lila squeezed her eyes shut, sobbing quietly. She could smell blood and smoke and Damien’s cologne mixed together. “Enough!” Victor shouted. “Cease fire! I want my daughter alive.” The shooting stopped. The night became tense and quiet again, broken only by the sound of engines and distant sirens. Damien looked at Lila. His eyes were dark, intense. Blood trickled down his temple. He wiped it away with the back of his hand and then reached for her again, pulling the torn blanket higher to cover her exposed breasts. “You really want to go back to him?” he asked, voice low so only she could hear. “After what you saw me do? After what your body did when I touched you?” Lila turned her face away, cheeks burning with shame. “I just want to go home. I’m scared of you. I’m scared of all of this.” Damien’s hand lingered on her waist under the blanket. His fingers brushed her skin, sending unwanted heat through her despite the pain. He leaned closer, lips near her ear. “Your father isn’t the hero you think he is, princess.” Before she could ask what he meant, Victor’s voice cut through again. “Lila, if you can hear me, come out. I’ll give Moretti whatever he wants. Just come to your father.” Lila looked at Damien, tears streaming down her face. She wanted to run to her dad. She wanted safety. But Damien’s arm was around her, strong and possessive. Damien suddenly stood, pulling her up with him. He kept her body pressed against his, using himself as a shield as he stepped out of the wreck. Victor’s men raised their guns again. Damien’s voice rang out, calm and deadly. “She stays with me. Touch her and every single one of you dies tonight.” Lila whimpered, pain and fear making her legs weak. She leaned heavily on Damien, her injured wrist throbbing, blood trickling down her arm. Victor took one step closer, eyes locked on his daughter’s exposed, injured form. “Lila, baby. Look at what he’s done to you.” Lila opened her mouth to answer, to beg her father to save her. But before any words came out, a new sound cut through the night , the roar of more engines. Multiple cars. Moretti reinforcements. Damien smiled coldly. And then the real shooting started again.
