Cassie's POV
My heart was beating fast as dad walked me down the aisle. I could feel everyone's eyes on me, so I tried my best to keep my head down and not show that I was nervous.
We were already close to the pulpit, where my supposed groom was waiting for me when I decided to lift my head and...
Oh no!
I had eye contact with the stranger I thought I would never see again. At first, I thought I was just seeing things, but when his gray eyes widened as he saw me, I immediately knew that he was the one.
Fuck me! What was he doing here? Why was he sitting in the seat reserved for the family of the groom? Who was he? Did he come here to blackmail me?
I wrenched my eyes away from him as I almost missed a step and tried to play it cool.
Relax, he probably was just an invited guest.
I tried to act okay, but I was really nervous. How could this happen?
Just when I thought that I was lucky enough that it was someone, I had no idea who it was, then suddenly he appeared and had to show up at the wedding.
What was I going to do?
I was panicking and breathing fast. I couldn't afford to have my secret spilled out on my wedding day, not even if I don't want to get married.
It'll ruin my reputation, it will ruin things for mom and dad.
Oh no! I couldn't think of anything else. My throat felt dry and as I was handed over to my groom, I still had my face down, hoping the gray-eyed stranger didn't recognize me.
"It's fine, Cassie, just... Just play it cool," I tried to reassure myself, but I knew there was no way I could play it cool.
I was standing directly in front of him and I could feel his stare at me, so how on Earth was I supposed to act normal?!
I was panicking!
The priest was talking, but I had no idea what he was saying as I was focused on staring at my feet and trying to make sure that he didn't get a good look at me.
But who was I kidding?! He was definitely going to see my face once the priest asked that the veil be taken off and then all my defenses would fall apart.
I have to focus on keeping a straight face. I still had no idea what my husband was looking like, as I was too focused on hiding my face from the stranger from last night.
"Ma'am? I need your answer please," The priest said, nudging me.
I looked up at him, trying to ignore the piercing gaze of the man, and forced a smile.
"Yes," I answered softly, "Yes, I do."
I turned and faced my husband, who was also forcing a smile on his face. It was obvious that we both didn't want to get married to each other.
I was just getting a good look at his face, and it was then I saw just how handsome he was. His jet-black hair was brushed back, exposing his forehead, and his strong gaze at the sleepy blue eyes had a strong resemblance to familiar eyes.
I didn't want to think about it, but the more I looked at him, the more I realized how much resemblance he bears to the man from last night.
They are both tall, huge and well-portioned bodies, black hair, although his hair was much darker than the other man's own, and beautiful eyes.
Holy s**t!
I had s*x with the brother of my husband, to be, not just in anywhere decent, but a f*****g public bathroom and drunk at that!
The priest called for us to kiss, and although he just lightly placed his lips on mine, I wasn't bothered. I was thinking of a way to make sure that this doesn't come out to anyone.
I was pretty sure that the guy also wouldn't want his brother to find out that he slept with his wife, I mean, from the way he looked at us.
The applause from the crowd was a bit too loud and fake for my liking, but I didn't bother about that. All I kept on thinking about was how to approach his brother and talk to him.
He was obviously older, given the nature vibes he had around him, unlike the one of my husband. Gosh, it feels so weird to say that.
My husband.
I turned to stare at the face of the man I was forced to make a lifelong promise with, and I noticed that he was searching the crowd, hopefully, not for his brother.
The wedding went on so fast, and we were all ushered to go to the reception.
In the car, I forced off the veil on my head as I tried to come up with a way to have a proper discussion with that man.
We got to the reception and I hurried to the bathroom.
"What's wrong?" Jane asked me when I got back.
I was about to answer when I caught a glimpse of the man from last night walking towards the garden.
"I'm good. Hey, give me a minute, okay?" I said as I hurried up to meet with him.
I stopped dead in my tracks when he turned to look at me and I felt a lump in my throat.
He raised his brows at me and I immediately remembered what I wanted to discuss with him.
"Hey,... Uhmm, about last night... "
"You're the girl from last night, right?" He asked, looking unbelievably.
"Yes."
"s**t!" He cursed, hitting his foot against the floor.
"Yeah, I know. I was drunk, you were drunk. We both made mistakes. It wasn't on purpose. Besides, we had no idea we would see each other here, "I knew I was babbling, but I didn't care.
"So what do you want us to do? I can't afford for my parents to find out that I slept with my brother's wife, "he said, frowning.
Finally, thank goodness.
"Me neither. I don't want my reputation to be ruined. So how about we do this? We just pretend to have never met each other. Sounds cool, right?"
"Yeah, that's okay with me, "he replied, nodding his head.
"Thanks," I said and walked away back to where my groom was.
