Chapter 3 Business marriage

1029 Words
Lionel's POV I could not wait for the wedding session to be over. I badly wanted to get to Victoria and talk with her, I couldn't wait to have my hands around her and to... Oh f**k me! I was already getting hard at the thought of Victoria in my arms. Lord knows that I was only trying to be a good son to my parents by marrying that brown-eyed girl, otherwise I wouldn't have done anything. I could still feel the taste of her lips on mine and I badly wanted to rub it away with that of Victoria's. God, I was definitely going crazy thinking about my girlfriend when I was still at my wedding. I really hope no one tries to force us to get too physical. I grabbed a glass of champagne from the waiter passing me by and quickly gulped it down. I was really anxious to go home, but I didn't want to leave the party half way, there was no way that it wouldn't be covered by the nosy reporters who came to poke their nose into this "loveless and business marriage" as they call it. I was just about to leave my seat when I noticed the girl I apparently had to spend some years with walking towards me, smiling at me and I felt my stomach churn in disgust. It wasn't that she wasn't pretty. She was, I mean, compared to other girls. She was pretty okay with lovely brown eyes and long silky hair, but she wasn't what I wanted. She was not Victoria. I forced a smile on my face as I watched her come closer. The nosy reporters two seats from mine are already eyeing us with piqued curiosity, looking for a story to cover. "Hey.. " She said shyly, grabbing a seat next to me. I grunted my reply, glancing sideways at the reporters to see if they were still looking at us. Don't they have anything better to do than watch us? "So.. uhmm... It's a bit uncomfortable, right?" She asked, apparently really interested in having a conversation with me. I wasn't interested at all in anything with her, but I couldn't bear to have the morning news tomorrow about my wedding and how I treated my bride, so I was forced to have a conversation with her. "Yeah. It is," I said , sighing heavily and grabbing another glass of wine. She smiled and grabbed a glass of wine herself and I felt relieved. At least she would stop talking. "My name's Cassie, by the way," She said after some time. Gosh! Can't she read the room at all?! "Lionel." She nodded her head and smiled. "Listen, I know you don't want this. I didn't want it either. We were both objects of our parents' greed but the least we could do was to... " "Objects of our parent's greed? Listen here, Dolly,..." I interrupted. "Cassie, " She corrected me. "Yeah whatever. The greed was on the part of your parents, not mine. If your parents hadn't been so interested in saving their business, then we wouldn't have ended up here, and I would probably be in Paris by now, making love to the woman I love," I wanted to say to her, but I couldn't. The reporters shifted closer to us, pretending to want a glass of wine just so that they would be able to listen to our conversation, so I was forced to keep quiet. "Yes? You were saying something," She said, looking at me curiously. "Nevermind that. Let's just go along with it. After all, they are our parents. We agreed to go along with it otherwise we wouldn't be here, would we?" I said, smiling at her. She nodded her head and took a sip of her wine while I glanced back at the reporters. "Isn't this party over yet? I can't wait to go home, "I said a bit too loud just so that the reporters would hear me. They seemed to have heard what I said as some of the people around me giggled softly and Dolly. Daisy, whatever her name was, also giggled. "Well, son, I understand what you mean," one of the guests said in a baritone voice, winking at the two of us. Great. That did it then. That was probably enough to make the nosy reporters give up on their mission to find news to report. "I know right, " I smiled at him and turned to face the almost red-faced girl next to me, putting my arms around her just as some reporters gathered and took some pictures. She looked a bit flustered though and I couldn't blame her. She's got to understand that this marriage was purely business and that everything we do was going to be scrutinized, so I've got to protect my reputation, at least for tonight. I couldn't afford to hear bad news about the company, not when the stocks are suddenly rising on the news of our marriage. "Well, you all heard the young man, let's wrap it up so they will be able to have some fun with each other. I mean, we all know that they're dying to get their arms around each other from the look of things," An obese looking man said, clicking his glass to make an announcement. I sighed with relief as I walked out of the reception surrounded by reporters who took some pictures of me holding whatever her name was, hands and walking down the stairs. We got to the car and I felt conflicted. I didn't want her to be with me in the same car, I couldn't bear to be close to her like I was forced to. Fortunately, she has to go get her things before she moves in with me, so we took separate cars. I arrived earlier than her and rushed upstairs where I was sure Victoria was waiting for me. I could smell her perfume just as I opened the door and there she was, lying on the bed arranged for my night with my bride, smiling at me as I walked in.
