Chapter 9 James Later that night, a strong thunderstorm rolls in; the sound of hail shattering against the reinforced windows awakens my appetite. I open my eyes onto my darkened bedroom and turn briefly to look. Karin’s here, curled up next to me, head on the pillow beside mine, like she belongs here. Maybe she does, I think, and the rush of warmth troubles me again. But I’m getting less worried, I realize, slipping out of bed to take a shower. I’m starting to like the idea.
