CHAPTER TWELVE Cassie collapsed onto her bed, trembling all over. She realized she was sitting on the bare mattress, because the covers had been ripped from the bed, the pillows torn out of the pillowcases and tossed onto the floor. She breathed deeply, trying her hardest not to burst into hysterical tears, knowing she couldn’t allow herself to fall to pieces right now.
