As they got closer to the restaurant, Valerie can barely keep it together, her red eyes are getting redder, she was almost at her limit. She breathed out the sigh of relief as she entered the restaurant. it is one of the high end restaurant around and she felt comfortable enough knowing that 60 percents of the staffs are vampires, thus the human scents are not so strong.
"Miss Vladimir, let me escort you to your hall." A man greeted cheerfully, his golden iris gleamed with joy as he approached her.
"Jarett, have my guests arrive yet?" Valerie asked as they walked straight through the back door, revealing a beautiful and lush garden.
"Yes, Val, they're here. Are you making deal with the wolves now?" Jarett's eyes flashed with annoyance. The man looked slightly older than Valerie, he was tall and well-built, he had white suit on, enhancing his already pale skin.
Valerie raised her eyebrow and slowed her pace, "They are?". She doesn't know why'd she need to whisper, but it just came naturally to her. She never had the chance to meet with any werewolves yet because she hasn't been around much aside from places which are secretly filled with vampires and some human. Her mouth formed an 'O' and a curious yet excited gleams are visible in her eyes. Jarett glared at her, his sister is impossible.
"Be carefull with the wolves, they are cunning creatures." Jarett hushed warning her, to which she rolled her eyes in response.
"Brother, why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be at your manor with your wife and your newborn?" She asked obviously dismissing his words.
Against everything the human believed regarding vampires, they do breed and are not afraid of sunlight nor garlic. They also age just like humans, however some they'll stop aging once they reach the age of fifty. Although it's a different matter if they consume human blood, thus they'll age slower. The most silly thing the humans believed would be that vampires don't bleed, which they do, but their bloods are different, theirs are thicker and darker, and glimmers under the sun.
"I came as soon as i found out that you were coming. Can't i miss my sister? You have never paid me a visit." He grunted.
Valerie sighed, her brother is ridiculous, his 'never' was a month without visit, non-sense right? As Valerie was about to answer she suddenly took a sharp breath and hissed softly. Jarret noticed the pain in her eyes and concern grew in his eyes.
"Val? what's wrong?" He reached her shoulder
"Nothing, i felt like my neck was burning for a second there, i must've felt it wrong." She shrugged and continued to walk and finally stopped in front of a gold rimmed door.
"you sure?" Jarett asked concerned.
"Shall we cancell the meeting, miss?" Selene who had been silent and whose presence was almost nonexistent finally opened her mouth. Jarett let out a shriek like a woman, he clearly didn't notice this petite girl behind Valerie all these time.
"Selene! Don't scare me like that, wear heels or something so i can see you!" He retorted.
Valerie chuckled, "J, are you blind? her heels are about to break her ankles already. I guess you didn't lie when you said that you missed me, brother" a glint of mischieve spread on her face, " shame, i have an important meeting to attend, see you later, brother."
At the cue, Selene who was still red because she felt embarrassed by Jarett's comment, opened the door for Valerie.
Before Valerie could even step inside, once again, her neck burns. Her bite mark burns! She seamlessly heaved a sigh but her fingers trembled slightly from the pain. What is going on!?
Valerie strode confidently into the room, as the burn on her neck become stronger, her demeanor become colder. She swept her eyes around the room and noticed there were five men, only one person was sitting comfortably, he must be the boss.
"Gentlemen," She greeted, a smile that's almost not visible tugged on her lips. The men standing nodded in acknowledgement, "Miss."
Only then the man she assumed is the boss lifted his gaze. There she met with the most beautiful pair of hazel eyes, as soon as their eyes met, the man's expression grew dark. He masked his change of expression well but such thing wouldn't go unnoticed by Valerie. She raised an eyebrow and extended her hand, "Mr. Alpha."
"Call me Cole, Valerie." He said in a low tone that it's almost like a growl. The way her name rolled off his tongue made Valerie's heart skipped a beat. What?
"Mr. Cole," she finally said as she regained her composure, "you can adress me by my surname."
They stood there for a while, the silence was not awkward for her because she was so lost in his eyes and so does he. Selene cleared her throath, gesturing Valerie to sit down to the chair she had pulled for her. Realizing that she kind of made fool of herself because she had stood there in silence for a minute with her hand still extended, her blood crept to her cheeks, she lowered her head as she sat down and cleared her throat. She needs to focus.
The man in front of her wacthed her every move carefully, he finds it amusing. Cole recognized those red irises at a glance and he tried so hard to suppress his lips from smiling. I told you to live and not to cross path with me, yet here you are, my sweet Valerie.
"I will sign it" Cole said cutting off whatever it is that Valerie was about to say. Valerie was shocked that it was apparent on her face, the men standing behind Cole are quite taken aback as well, as far as they know, their boss have never signed an agreement before they go over the details.
Valerie's eyes flickered in disbelief, didn't they say that this man is hard to deal with?
"Yes, sure, let us go over the details of the contract and see if you'd like to adjust the terms." Valerie noded, handing in the contract.
"There's no need. I trust you, Miss Vladimir" Cole said, a faint smirk tugged on his lips.
"Very well," Valerie smiled, though there is a weird feeling in her chest because Cole didn't call her by name anymore. Her smile were sour.
Cole handed back the contract which he had signed and kept one for himself. He watched as Valerie rose from her seat and extended her hand once again, "Thank you for cooperating with us Mr. Cole."
He raised an eyebrow at her attempt to shake his hand, did she not learned? should i let her have her way?
Cole stood and grabbed her hand firmly. He held his breath as his hand felt the burn he had felt the first time he met her. On the other hand Valerie gasped at the sensation, the pain on her neck eased, she slightly shivered under his touch and soon as Cole pulled his hand away, she felt her neck burns again. Cole walked out as soon as he pulled his hand, this was a mistake, his walked fast until he got inside his car. He didn't even stop in his track when Jarett thanked him for coming.
Finally he lets out a whimper, his heart ached, once again, he let her go away, his mate.
