Keep searching,” Major Braithewaite ordered. “He"s hiding in these bushes somewhere.” “I doubt he"s hanging around here waiting to be caught,” Riley said, examining the lay of the land about him, looking for likely escape routes. “He probably headed off in that direction.” He pointed to the north. “Are you questioning my orders, Captain?” The major was furious. “I wouldn"t dream of it,” Riley answered blandly, “but it would be a logical assumption that—” “You don"t assume anything in my command!” Riley remained resignedly silent, his expression bored. He looked off in the direction he had pointed and saw a figure observing them from the top of a rise. “There he is!” he shouted. He brought his long-blaster to his shoulder and fired just as the figure disappeared over the hill.
