CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR Riley was curious about Brian’s change in attitude but figured he would find out when Brian was ready to talk. They moved another two miles and made camp. The next morning, their way joined a road that led them through gently rolling green hills. Brian was strangely quiet, and Riley left him to his thoughts. In the distance, Riley could get occasional glimpses of some sort of structure. As they reached the top of the last hill before the river, they got their first real look at the entrance to the High City. The road turned into a white stone bridge that crossed the wide river.
