CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX
Brian, Riley, and Neej-An spent the next two weeks under the strict instruction of three members of the High Council. They had started wearing the light cotton tunics and loose pantaloons that were the common dress for the warm weather. Lord Keeper Eelura Kalad, First Lord Justice Korinti Kutan, and Lord Regent Delisi Duralon took rotating shifts with the purpose of turning the three apprentices into three adepts in the shortest amount of time possible. In two weeks of exhaustive training, they covered as much ground as even a fast student would normally spend ten months on, and slower students much longer than that.
“Alright,” Riley said one afternoon, “I know we’ve been doing well. How about we take a little breather? Say at least a few hours of rest.”
