CHAPTER 29 : CYNTHIA'S PLANS

1734 Words
***CYNTHIA'S POV** This must be some kind of joke. I stormed out of the healing center and made my way to Alexander's house, knowing she would be there. I took time out of my life to come here for his sorry self, and he had the nerve to blow up at me. Over what? A stupid little girl with blue eyes, who was worth less than my single pant. What was so special about her anyways? I was more beautiful than her, she couldn't even compare to me. She's nothing but a servant to me. I was the most beautiful in the Vampire kingdom, not just in my father's kingdom. I had many suitors in the past, but I decided to have pity on mateless Alexander and give him a chance after his parents came to me and my father , asking me to be their son's chosen mate. I never had to struggle to grab the attention of a men. Their eyes simply gravitated towards me. So, finding someone ready to mate with me was not an issue. I was the daughter of one of the strongest Vampire Lords who had also won a battle in the past that so many Vampire Lords couldn't win. So, I needed to marry from a strong and influential Vampire Kingdom, which is why I decided to mate with Alexander. When Queen Saraphina and Lord Sebastian contacted my father looking to match me with their son, my father informed me and I accepted. Not only would our union strengthen our two Vampire Kingdoms, but it would also extend my father's power hold. In our world, power is everything. Every Lord, Alpha, or King could die for power. I walked up to the front door, but before I could reach the first few steps that led to it, a large guard intercepted me. "This is restricted access," his monotone voice was like sandpaper to my ears. I didn't have time for this, especially not from a low-ranking mutt like him. "That's okay," I smiled, using the rehearsed smile I had practiced thousands of times. "I am Alexander's mate and your queen-to-be." He didn't move, instead, he stared down at me as if he didn't believe me. Every vampire kingdom knew that Alexander would be mated and who he would be mated to. This low-ranked good-for-nothing guard had crossed my path, and now he's on the list of people I'll deal with after I fully reign in this Kingdom. "I am Cynthia, Daughter of Great Lord Cyrus, mate to Alexander, your lord. Not only does that mean I outrank you simply because I am Lord Cyrus's daughter, but also because I am your Queen." The guard's eyes widened, and he lowered his head in submission. That was better. "Forgive me, my Queen," he stepped off the path and allowed me to continue. I liked the sound of the title on his lips. I had been born into power, I had royal blood running through my veins, and I didn't think I should be worried about a dirty, stinky, low-ranked vampire lady with blue eyes. I turned the knob of the front door and walked into the house. I looked around the foyer and examined the area for a second. It was nice, but too simple and cheap for me. If I was going to live here, I would need more. It was something I would need to talk to Alexander about later. "Saraphina?" I called out. My voice echoed through the hardwood floor home. I was sure that my parents and Saraphina had come here. That's where they told me they would be when they left me at the healing center. "Saraphina?" I called out again. "Cynthia, darling, is that you?" her voice came from what looked to be the kitchen area. I followed her voice down the hall until I came into the kitchen. The kitchen was very modern with beautiful white marble. The designs and arrangement felt expensive, just my taste. I hate cheap things. Queen Saraphina, Alexander's mom, was sitting at the counter sipping on a glass of what looked like yogurt. When she saw me, her face broke into a brilliant smile. Her red hair, which was done in an updo, was now down. She had the same eyes as Alexander. "Hi Saraphina," I smiled, the smile I reserve for those I actually like. Saraphina was unlike so many Vampire Queens or first ladies I've encountered in my life. There was something about her aura that just drew me to her. She stood from her seat and rounded the island, her arms spread wide, offering me a hug. I obliged and opened my arms. We embraced each other in a hug that lasted a little too long for my liking. When she pulled away, she caressed my cheek the way a loving mother would. "How is Alexander doing, my dear?" she asked, the smile still on her face. "He was awake before I left the room. He is doing better, Saraphina, but there is an issue." She gestured for me to take the seat beside hers. We settled into our seats, and she waited for me to speak. "Saraphina, you know how grateful my parents and I are about the arrangement. And, as you know, both Alexander and my father took an oath and gave their words." She nodded, "Yes, dear, but I am yet to hear about the issue." I shook my head, "The issue isn't with that, Saraphina. The issue lies with Alexander. When you first contracted my father about the arrangement, you told us that Alexander had no one he was attached to. Not a mate, partner, or anything of the sort." "And as far as we know, he does not. Why do you ask? Has he done something to show you that he has someone other than you, or have you caught him with another vampire lady?" "He claims she is just a friend, but I have my suspicions that there is something there that he is not telling me. Her name is Natasha, a fair-skinned girl with blue eyes. I believe she is a low-ranked vampire." Saraphina's face contorted in disdain. "Oh, her. No, Cynthia, she is not one of us." "I know, Desmond told me that she is not from this kingdom and she is not of low rank." "Well, my dear, he didn't tell you everything. Natasha is a white wolf who trespassed into our kingdom and was captured by the patrol team. But my son decided to show mercy and spare her life." I was confused. "Why didn't he send her back to where she came from?" Saraphina took a small sip of her yogurt. "Apparently, the girl suffers from amnesia. She can't remember anything about her past life. Soon we will find out everything about her so we can send her back to her wolf pack unharmed." "So she is a rogue?" "Technically, she is, unless we find her pack," she waved me off. "You have nothing to worry about, darling. She is nothing but a lowly peasant. And you, my dear, are the diamond of the season. Your beauty is unmatched, your brown skin is enough to attract any man. You are the epitome of African beauty. No vampire can compare to you." "Yet your son still seems more interested in a lowly girl than me," I wanted to say, but held my tongue. My fight was not with Queen Saraphina or even Alexander. It was with the little wolf girl. I needed her gone, and I needed her gone like yesterday. "That's all true, but I believe there is more to this story than meets the eye, Saraphina. I want to have a happy relationship with Alexander. I know we may not be true mates, but I believe if given the chance, I can love him and make him a better and more powerful Lord." "Alexander is already an excellent and powerful Lord, Cynthia," she defended her son. "I know," I managed to word my reply correctly this time. "I simply mean that I can be his support, his pillar if given the chance. But I can't do that if his eyes and heart are wandering." She set her glass down and looked me straight in the eyes. "So what are you suggesting?" "I want that girl gone. She is a rogue and easily disposable." She nodded her head slowly as my words sank in. Saraphina was a woman who knew how to make things happen for herself. She wasn't one to sit back and let life unfold around her. She knew how to take control and steer things in the direction she wanted. I needed that side of Saraphina right now. I needed her to be willing to get her hands dirty. "Are you planning to kill her?" she asked. Here goes nothing, I thought. "If needed, then yes. But I don't believe we need to go to that extent. We can just make her run far away from this kingdom where Alexander won't be able to see her again." "Whatever you want, Cynthia. I don't like the girl either. Besides, she doesn't have any pack or family, so if we make her disappear, no one will ask about her." "Except for your son , but I have a plan for that as well. We can make it look like she was attacked and killed by wolves. This way, Alexander won't try to do something foolish like go and try to rescue her. And I can have my mate back." Saraphina clapped her hands together in excitement. "I love it!" I smiled at Saraphina. I knew I could count on her. I was about to speak when I heard the sound of a door closing in the distance. "Who the hell is that?" I asked. She waved me off. "Probably just one of the maids. They were cleaning your parents' room to your mother's liking." "Oh, okay." My name was Cynthia, daughter of Lord Cyrus. I was never one to lose to anyone. This Natasha girl was simply another obstacle I had to break down to reach my desired goal. That desired goal was sitting beside Alexander as his queen. It was only a matter of time before she became nothing but a distant memory to Alexander, and I became his entire world.
