"You heard me," Mel declared, her voice steady despite the tremble in it. "He couldn't stay away." The world felt like it had tilted on its axis. "Why?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. "Because you're part of him," she replied simply. "And he's not going to let you go without a fight." The words hung in the air, a declaration that sent a shiver down my spine. I didn't know if the shiver was fear or excitement. The sound of a motorcycle rumbling down the street grew louder, and I stepped back into the apartment, my heart in my throat. “Umm…how long ago he leave?” I asked. “A little over two hours ago. He should be getting there any time,” she answered. “Yeah. I think he’s here,” I murmured. “Okay. I’ll talk to you later. Love ya, girl,” Mel hastily stated. “Love you too,”
