We sit in two chairs next to Jaxon’s bed. Tristan has been silent since the meeting. “Tell me what’s happening in your head.”
Tristan looks up at me and fakes a smile. It doesn’t reach his eyes. He looks worn out. He has aged so much since the attack. “I am not sure. I want the treaty.” He moved his eyes to Jaxon. “He wouldn’t support it. We both know he would rather die fighting than to make a treaty.”
“I think Caiden would have hated a treaty too. I also think he has seen a lot of loved ones die. He would eventually agree to the treaty. He was a great leader. He would have done it to protect what’s left.”
